New flooring, new paint, and new lighting throughout this home, provided a fresh canvas to make this home their own. The kitchen renovation involved extending and expanding two work areas, one a peninsula and the other the island with an attached table. The original flow through the kitchen made the extended island with the table an ideal problem resolution and the perfect place for grandkids to gather for snacks and games. The perimeter cabinets were painted an off-white and the green island spoke to my client's love of green and her California roots. Durable quartz countertops and subway tile backsplash provided the perfect canvas for countless family gatherings. The living room also had a custom built-in with a bench added for their many books and collections.

Designed by Lauren Hunt of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Charlotte, NC, this contemporary style kitchen features Ultracraft cabinets in the Acrilux door style in two finishes. The kitchen base cabinets feature an Ultralux Pure White High Gloss finish and the wall cabinets an Ultralux Midnight High Gloss finish. The kitchen countertops are Cambria Portrush and feature a waterfall edge design on each end of the island.
“I love this kitchen,” said Hunt. “Contemporary finishes like acrylics are extremely challenging to work with and can be very unforgiving, but with great risk comes great reward – and this finished project was definitely rewarding.”
“The clients were so fun to work with, and there wasn’t a single aspect of this design that they weren’t involved with. They love to cook, so it was extremely important that the kitchen functioned well with both of them working together while making the most of their storage space.”

This renovation involved expanding the kitchen space into an adjacent office area, creating a side entry, new kitchen layout that worked well for two cooks, professional grade appliances, oversized island with seating on two sides, eat-in area, sitting area and furniture look cabinets with both stained and painted finishes. We enlarged an existing window by creating a boxed bay at the relocated sink and designed a continuous quartzite counter which serves as planting ledge for herbs and flowers. Some of the appliances were integrated into the cabinetry with panels, while others were designed as impact pieces. Custom designed cabinets include a large mantel style chimney hood with vent insert, furniture grade hutch with leaded glass doors, contrasting stained island with seating on two sides, bar with wine refrigerator and deep drawers, and a galley style butler's pantry which provides secondary prep space and ample storage.
Details such as shaped cabinet feet, upper glass front cabinets, pull-out trash drawer, spice columns and hidden drawers and storage make this newly designed kitchen space feel luxurious and function perfectly. Traditional materials and forms meld seamlessly with industrial accents and modern amenities. Mixed metals are used in a balanced and dynamic way with warm gold tone cabinet hardware, stainless steel and chrome all working in harmony. Antique furnishings blend with the newly designed cabinets and modern lighting.

When a best friend calls to renovate her kitchen, we get extra excited! While many of our projects involve removing walls to create open floor plans, sometimes the biggest impact can come from revising the layout, improving functionality and upgrading finishes. Such was the case at our Devon Lane remodel. Reworking the awkwardly shaped island, eliminating a clunky soffit, relocating the refrigerator to a more accessible location and creating an elegant finish palette were our main goals when we set out to design this space. The work triangle began to evolve, and the outcome provided a large island with seating and a prep sink, ideal for hosting social gatherings. The wine bar, flanked by tall pantries, complements the rest of the kitchen, looking beautiful while providing lots of function. The new professional range and other high-end appliances make preparing meals a pleasure. The fabulous custom hood is a delightful focal point. The glazed ivory cabinets, black antiqued granite, iron light fixtures and hardware, nickel sinks and faucets bring the whole space together with an elevated, traditional feel. Hanging out with our bestie in her lovely home just got even better!

Working within the kitchen’s original footprint, our creative solution involved updating the island to a larger rectangle shape with more surface area for food prep and dining space. As well as becoming a stunning statement piece with a gorgeous 3” mitered Trillium top, the island now functions as an ideal space for the homeowners and their two young kids to be seated at the island while mom and dad prepare their gourmet meals. It also incorporates an oversized undermount stainless steel sink with a Cove dishwasher and Wolf microwave drawer.
180 degrees from the island sink finds you within easy reach of a 24” column Subzero freezer and 30” column Subzero refrigerator, which are fully integrated next to the Wolf convection wall and steam ovens, flush-mounted into the European cabinetry. The new, wider countertop surrounding the 36” Wolf pro-range is completely unencumbered with the removal of the tall cabinets on the wall. A striking copper hood became a spectacular focal point in its place.

Stained Walnut cabinets anchor this larger than life island, housing a built-in microwave and plenty of storage. The Calacatta Borghinni countertop has a curved overhang on the back side to accommodate the owners children for breakfast or dinner guests with cocktails, keeping them involved in the conversation but out of the way.

Designed by Sharleen Gomez of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Wilmington, DE in collaboration with Gives Me Shelter, this kitchen remodeling project features the transformation of a small kitchen into a transitional style inspired design. The kitchen features Merillat Classic cabinets in the door style Spring Valley in two finishes. The perimeter cabinets features a Chiffon finish with the kitchen island in a Steel Gray finish. The kitchen countertops Silestone Lusso.
The kitchen also includes Ceramica Ribesalbes 3x12 Matte Ivory subway tile, Glazzio Frost Glass Merino Glam tile and 12x24 V-Lux LVT Marfil flooring.
“I was changing the layout of my kitchen, and other companies I spoke to couldn’t get everything I needed in the confined space. Reico made it work! I love the look of the new countertop and backsplash, and Sharleen’s picks for tile were perfect! Sharleen was a wonderful and was essential to the process. She dealt with any problems that popped up quickly and efficiently,” said the customer.
“The client’s original kitchen was tiny. The space felt cramped, outdated and it made moving around and cooking difficult. The kitchen was also surrounded by soffits that we couldn’t remove,” said Sharleen.
“We wanted to create a space that was cohesive, modernized and brought in light to an otherwise dark room. The space we created is beautiful, light and so much more functional than the original! Working with the client was wonderful and making their ideas come alive was even better. She trusted my judgement and was super involved in the process!”

Wood cabinets will never go out of style. This kitchen design in a townhome in the city involved removing a wall housing plumbing from the also remodeled Master Bathroom and opening up the space to allow a beautiful flow into the the living and dining area.

This kitchen renovation involved increasing the useability of the space by opening the support wall between the kitchen and the dining room, which the customer thought was a great idea. The result is nothing short of amazing, with much more light able to get into the dining area, and the increased convenience of the kitchen and dining areas being more closely connected. wow!!!

Ever heard some say “It has good bones?” Well, no one had ever said that about this house; it needed a major overhaul - “A TOTAL GUT.”
It’s saving grace was:
1. It’s enthusiastic new homeowners.
2. The expansive and gorgeous views of Okanagan Lake.
We were asked to assist our clients with big-picture-planning for their newest investment property.
Upon initial walk through of the home, it was immediately evident there were many previous ‘bandaid-type’ updates that it had gone through over the years.
This house was in prime need of an overhaul inside and out:
- multiple dropped Ceilings with layers of Plumbing add ons
- wall to wall Carpet
-a tired Bathtub directly inside the Master Bedroom
- a “dreaded” Corner Kitchen Sink
-multiple add ons involving three confusing front entry doors
Discovering what was previously done and the quandary of why these things were done is always so interesting to discover and can be very overwhelming for clients.
A big part of what we love most about Design is helping to propose new ideas to revitalize and improve all that has come before. It is one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of our work.
Our Renovation Strategy began in Layout Design for optimizing Interior & Exterior flow, moving into Concept & Style Planning, Millwork and Finish Selections.
We then created an ordered implementation sequence which would allow the homeowners to live on one floor while the other was being renovated Later they would move to the finished floor and renovate the remaining areas.
Once complete, the home quickly sold and we look forwards to assisting these happy investors on their next endeavour.
