The Aquascape Inc. pondless system recirculates the water from the stream and waterfall via an underground reservoir. It’s ideal for those who want to enjoy the beauty of a waterfall without the pond. We wanted it to appear as if the water is disappearing into the gravel. www.deckandpatio.com

Installing a multi-faceted water feature that includes stream, waterfalls and pond, nestled in between multi-level patios, creates a restful and functional backyard oasis.

This was a backyard renovation. There was an existing plastic tub pond with many perennials around it. We took out everything, saved as many perennials as we could and installed a new rubber lined, natural ecosystem pond, stream and waterfall. We redesigned the area and created a couple different seating areas along with a pathway over the stream. Transplanted the perennials and added a few new plants to add interest all year long

This stunning free-form pond is a huge hit with the clients’ entire nature-loving family. Everyone enjoys feeding and watching the vibrant koi as they swim about in it. “We even get to enjoy it all at night,” says the wife. “And we can see it from our home and offices, too.” www.deckandpatio.com

We used the hill in the pool area design by adding natural elements like moss rock, a stream, and a beautiful waterfall and using boulder coping to retain it. Also attractive moss rock steps lead to the small blue stone patio near the spa.

This is the feature a couple years after installation. The plants have established and are filling in the spaces. This is the image of the the river with the plants growing in.

It takes expertise and experience to position rocks in such a way as to coax water into waterfalls just like it happens in nature. Members of Deck and Patio’s team enjoy the woods and hillsides of upstate New York — frequently stopping and studying how water flows over rock, how plants crop up alongside of such water trails, etc. www.deckandpatio.com

One option for those clients who prefer not to maintain a pond has been a pondless water feature. Instead of falling into a pond, the flow from waterfalls and streams are built to let the spillover seep through gravel and seemingly disappear into the ground.
The water is actually collected in an underground reservoir system where it is recirculated to replenish the water feature. Here, the water is kept clean and healthy without the use of any chemicals.

Sometimes clients want more than a pool. This newly created backyard sanctuary comprises an in-ground vinyl-lined pool, large patio area, outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, fire pit, two streams and two waterfalls. Plus, the serenity of it all gives no hint of the high-tech energy efficient components supporting it. The sounds of waterfalls, streams and sprays add tranquility to the backyard retreat.

“We particularly value Aquascape’s waterfall systems because they focus, like we do, on an ecosystem approach to water features,” says Dave Stockwell, owner of Deck and Patio. “For this project, the pondless system relies on a natural balance of circulation, filtration, plants, rocks and gravel to ensure sustainability.”
Another reason our waterfall retaining wall system looks so natural is our waterfall installation team understands how water flows over rock and how it releases from the rock in order to create a natural look and feel.
We avoid the look of steps in the waterfall by making the water change directions in the waterfalls and streams.

Had you ever thought of building a small patio just for writing or reading? If you had, perhaps it would look something like this delightful space designed and built by Deck and Patio.
It was constructed with Techo-Bloc pavers next to a new water feature we added. Sitting beside the trickling stream, hearing the sounds of gentle waterfalls — far away from any other outdoor activities — provides an idyllic spot to read or just meditate. http://www.deckandpatio.com

Welcome to the inviting living room space, where comfort and elegance merge harmoniously. The oak-colored hardwood floors exude natural warmth and richness, providing a perfect foundation for the room's design.
As you glance up, you'll notice several artificial beams gracefully adorning the ceiling, mirroring the color of the floors. These beams add a touch of rustic charm, infusing the space with character and sophistication.
At the heart of the living room sits a large, plush sofa adorned with light brown cushions and bright orange pillows. The sofa invites you to sink into its soft embrace, offering a cozy spot to unwind and relax.
Drawing your attention, the centerpiece of the room is a majestic fireplace, proudly positioned in the center. It boasts a grand black marble surround, creating an exquisite focal point that demands admiration. The contrast of the black marble against the white walls further accentuates its elegance and grace.
The walls, painted in a crisp white hue, provide a perfect backdrop for the room's elements to shine. The white paint adds an airy and fresh feel to the space, making it feel even more inviting and open.
Two long windows grace the living room, offering a glimpse of the beautiful back yard of the house. The natural light streaming through the windows enhances the overall ambiance, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
This living room space is a perfect blend of comfort, style, and sophistication. The combination of oak-colored hardwood floors, artificial beams, a large and inviting sofa, the captivating black marble fireplace, and the view of the back yard through the windows creates an ambiance that exudes warmth and refinement. It's a space where you can retreat from the world, enjoy moments of relaxation, and create cherished memories with family and friends.

This Highlands Ranch xeriscape transformation replaced struggling front-yard sod with a water-wise landscape designed for the property’s challenging Colorado conditions. Located on a highly exposed corner lot near open space, the yard faced intense sun, strong winds and recurring bare areas where traditional turf was difficult to maintain. Griffith Designs created a more resilient solution that improves curb appeal while reducing dependence on water-intensive grass.
The mature ash tree was carefully preserved and incorporated as an established focal point. After removing the failing sod, new landscape edging was installed to define the redesigned beds. A decorative dry stream built with specialty rock, a defined stone border and large landscape boulders adds natural structure, visual movement and year-round interest.
Native and drought-tolerant shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses provide seasonal color, texture and movement, while architectural yucca gives the landscape a distinctive Colorado character. The irrigation system was adjusted to support the new water-wise plantings and protect the long-term health of the existing ash tree.
Griffith Designs also prepared the landscape design and HOA submittal package, helping guide the project through review and approval. Although the expanded scope exceeded the original target budget, the options and costs were discussed in advance and approved by the homeowner. The completed front-yard renovation delivers a polished, HOA-compliant xeriscape that is better suited to the site and easier to maintain.
