Chilton's Acadia Live Edge Collection is crafted in Maine from solid walnut, cherry or Spalted Maple. Each piece features clean minimalist lines with a contrasting unfinished edge from the bark line of the tree. This raw "live edge" ensures that each piece is both dynamic and unique. Inspired by George Nakashima, this bed marries a modern aesthetic with a reverence for the tree from which it was hewn. Also available as a stand-alone frame without headboard. Headboard height and shape vary from piece to piece based on the individual characteristics of the wood. This bed is a platform bed that only requires a mattress. A foundation is not necessary.

House Plan 92350MX was built by our clients in Georgia and it came out rustic, original, and stunning. They made some changes to this 3 bed, ~2,600 square foot home including replacing the windows and doors in back using 12' and 16' sliding door packages by Pella. This required a steel I-beam to strengthen the rear wall. Custom showers upstairs and a double-width fireplace on the main level for a gas box and television were additional touches. This bedroom is small and had a tiny existing closet and poor flow, so we had to get creative. We reworked the layout to allow for a walk in closet and replaced old carpet with bamboo flooring. By adding a loft bed, we gained a large custom desk space, complete with tool chest as desk storage. Since my client’s view of the ceiling got a little closer, we added interest with bold color and design. A contemporary dresser and comfortable reading chair round out the space. The existing bathroom had a leaking shower with odd angles. To save money, we kept the angles and added a European shower tower, maximizing luxury and function in a tight space. The wall mounted vanity is visually lighter than a traditional vanity and makes the room feel larger. And we can’t forget the giraffe – a fun and colorful accent for a true animal lover! Our goal on this project was to create a live-able and open feeling space in a 690 square foot modern farmhouse. We planned for an open feeling space by installing tall windows and doors, utilizing pocket doors and building a vaulted ceiling. An efficient layout with hidden kitchen appliances and a concealed laundry space, built in tv and work desk, carefully selected furniture pieces and a bright and white colour palette combine to make this tiny house feel like a home. We achieved our goal of building a functionally beautiful space where we comfortably host a few friends and spend time together as a family. John McManus
