Reclaimed wood square tiles were added to the kitchen pop up ceiling and the living room fireplace to add warmth and texture. Black and white photography of the local desert landscape frame the fireplace. Although the home is mainly grey, black and white, pops of red are a recurring theme thought the interior and exterior, including a red barn door at the kitchen pantry. I broke design rules and didnt take the "safe" route. Quirky accent items can be found throughout the home. These include a wall-mounted family accordion, framed movie quotes in one of the guest rooms, a custom canvas photo of my miniature schnauzer, and dragon print accent pillows throughout. A Tongue and Groove (T&G) wood ceiling transformed the master bedroom and a beautiful red area rug adds color and warmth. The result is DARING and yet comfortable. The backyard was completely renovated. Tons of white rock were removed and beautiful landscaping and lighting were added as well as an additional 500 square feet of pavers. A sun shade, red umbrellas, and patio misters create inviting seating areas for friends and family. Tongue and Groove wood was also added to the outdoor patio ceilings. A high end surround sound system and built in BBQ with patterned cement tiles complete this outdoor living space. The process was exhausting and time consuming but now that it is over, I am thrilled with the results. I now live in a home that nourishes my soul and better represents my style and tastes.

Just finished up the vanity in the master bathroom of my house. It is made from wormy American Chestnut with walnut hinges, handles and pulls. I wanted something unique and wanted to make every piece on the vanity (except the top which is a stone top). Buying hinges and handles just didn’t seem right for a piece like this so I decided to make them myself from walnut. Time consuming and challenging, but worth it in the end. I wanted an old look for the hinges, like the hammered style strap hinges of the past. So on those, I whittled on them with a pocket knife to give them that rustic, handmade appearance. The drawer boxes were made with 3/4” wormy oak sides with 1/2” plywood bottoms. I also made the wood slides from oak. I took down all of this wood from an old house that a friend of mine had on his place, dating well back into the 1800’s. The home was filled with beautiful tongue and groove American chestnut walls and flooring, and I was fortunate enough to be able to salvage some for myself. The past lives on in my new home.

The original space, Lisha explains, had two oddly placed columns blocking a clear view of the beautiful pool area from inside the home. “We removed those columns and gave her three more feet of roof, which extended her living area while also giving her the view she wanted.” Since the client - a woman in her mid-50s with grown children who visit frequently - only wanted a small outdoor kitchen island with a 30-inch RCS grill Outdoor Homescapes closed up a French door that led from the master bedroom (which she never used) and created a new stucco wall for the kitchen. “I would definitely call the style of this space ‘transitional,” says Lisha.
