NCA designed a new home in a family compound situated in the heart of Newport’s Ocean Drive Historic District. The central part of the residential project is primarily wetlands, though a small parcel was suitable for a structure with a small footprint. Emerald crispy Gulf of Mexico seawater, bright gold sun, blue clear sky, silver luminous moon, white cotton clouds were the perfect inspiration to create the customer’s own personal paradise. We built 1500 square feet of covered outdoor living, suitable for family enjoyment and friend’s entertainment. We selected long lasting and low maintenance materials that can stand wind, rain, salt and sun in coastal areas. To achieve the rich look of a wood deck we selected tahoe ocre wood tiles that not only are durable, easy to maintain and clean, but also are environmental friendly. We selected “happy orange” for the pillows and plant pots. This stunning hue is part of the color spectrum in Clearwater beautiful sunsets. When the sun heads for the horizon a perfect symbiosis brings the sun’s energy into this family retreat.

An existing house with several additions lacked coherence and connection to the large private yard. The homeowners asked us to re-envision the property to be both a cozy home for them and an inviting destination suitable for entertaining friends and family. Using our master plan design service, we re-imagined the entire house and land as a whole. This holistic approach led to an unexpected and beautiful re-ordering of the home integrated with the private yard. Large floor to ceiling glass walls are used to connect inside and outside rooms. Reclaimed wood beams, stone walls, and integral colored plaster curate an interior environment that is elevated yet relaxed.

With two teen daughters, a one bathroom house isn’t going to cut it. In order to keep the peace, our clients tore down an existing house in Richmond, BC to build a dream home suitable for a growing family. The plan. To keep the business on the main floor, complete with gym and media room, and have the bedrooms on the upper floor to retreat to for moments of tranquility. Designed in an Arts and Crafts manner, the home’s facade and interior impeccably flow together. Most of the rooms have craftsman style custom millwork designed for continuity. The highlight of the main floor is the dining room with a ridge skylight where ship-lap and exposed beams are used as finishing touches. Large windows were installed throughout to maximize light and two covered outdoor patios built for extra square footage. The kitchen overlooks the great room and comes with a separate wok kitchen. You can never have too many kitchens! The upper floor was designed with a Jack and Jill bathroom for the girls and a fourth bedroom with en-suite for one of them to move to when the need presents itself. Our clients contacted us about purchasing a new home with the intention of renovating for it to suit their family’s needs. They wanted a house in a specific location and building new wasn’t an option. We worked with them to find a house suitable that we could make the perfect home for them. This project included completely redesigning the floor plan for an open concept and large addition over the garage to accommodate a master on-suite. The result was a home that fit the neighborhood perfectly and with 4 bedrooms, and 5 bathrooms it can be their forever home. We were able to give them a new home feeling, while remaining under budget by using the existing structure as much as possible.

Our designer took on the task of renovating two bathrooms in this Glenview home and we are blown away by her work---hello modern farmhouse, meet industrial glam! For the master bath, texture and balance was the focus. The curvy silhouette of the freestanding bathtub brings softness to the matte black industrial cabinet hardware, and the wood mimicking floor tiles paired with a marble vanity top creates a fun play with different textures. For the kid bath, the focus was creating a timeless bathroom that was suitable for a princess (or even three) to grow into! Whimsy is brought into this bathroom with the dazzling fish scale mosaic tiles, mirrors, and lighting.
