Carrera marble in all its glory is the big show stopper in this Bolton Hill rowhome master bath renovation. What started as a cramped, chopped up room was opened into a sparkling, luxurious space evocative of timeless Old World mansion baths. The result demonstrates what’s possible when mixing multiple marble tile shapes, colors and patterns. To visually frame the bathroom, we installed 6” x 12” honed Carrera marble tiles laid in a herringbone pattern for wainscotting, and carried the same marble pattern into the shower stall in order to create depth and dimension. The wainscotting is set off by beautifully-detailed Carrera marble chair rail and black tile pencil moulding. Carrera hex shower tiles, marble sills and bench, and intricate Carrera and black mosaic flooring complete the marble details. The crisp white double vanity and inconspicuous builtins tastefully compliment the marble, and the brass cabinet hardware, mirrors and plumbing and lighting fixtures add a burst of color to the room.

This master bathroom renovation is a beautiful mixture of materials and styles. With waterjet cut floor tile comprised of marble and glass, a delicate damask pattern is created under your feet. The antique mirrored tile puts a luxurious spin on the standard subway tile look. What do we love most about this project? -- The layers of mirrored elements make us feel like we are in our own version of Versailles!

Designed for the 2013 Traditional Home Magazine Napa Valley Showhouse, this sophisticated master bedroom suite highlights a mix of antique and modern pieces for a transitional look that can withstand the test of time. A navy and green master bedroom evokes the organic elegance of Napa’s lush vineyards. For the master bath, we selected marble-topped vanities and a freestanding tub for a sense of luxurious serenity.

Alcove shower - mediterranean beige tile alcove shower idea in San Francisco with white walls

Sweet little country cottage, this home was built in the 1930's in Dallas, Texas. The master bathroom shown in the before photo was extremely small, unappealing, and did not utilize the best space. With the K. Rue new design, a larger shower was created and a major update to the cabinetry was involved. Notice the shower controls are placed on the end opposite of the showerhead to allow enough space for the water to heat up without soaking the user. Trying to eliminate constant distractions and interruptions, white and gray were the key colors in the bathroom to make a fluid statement. The small Carrara marble mosaic used on the floor was carried into the shower floor for a consistent rhythm. For an emphasized country cottage look, these 4x10 gray subway ceramic tiles add a slight rough and handmade look to the walls with an intentionally thick grout line. The cabinetry was purchased as one unit to appear as a furniture piece with built-in lavatories and faucets. Gray walls add a great accent to the almost all-white bathroom for depth and drama. This client was so much fun to design for. Their project was all about color, texture and creating a master bedroom and guest bedroom that compliments their passion for traveling and eclectic style. We created a seating area in the master bedroom where the family can gather at night to read and spend time quality time. Their desire for deep color and bold pattern allowed us to create a casual space that is both warm and inviting at the end of a long day. Guests often visit and stay for a bit. They wanted to give their family and friends the same cozy feel in their guest bedroom. We were able to use a combination of patterns, textures and colors with our custom-made bedding and pillows. We also love to repurpose where we can and painted furniture is a great place to start. The depth of color used here is a true reflection of our clients' warm and friendly personality that says "welcome to our home."
