DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". Lisa's custom 9' tall barn doors, complete with authentic galvanized track mounted near the ceiling, are a strong aesthetic statement that also provide ultimate functionality for this serene office retreat. The room can be opened up along its entire front perimeter, or closed off completely, sharing only daylight through the upper glass. Chunky Mexican table provides ample workspace, while sailboat, antique propeller and "Old Skiff" by Jim Holland complement Tharp's nautical chart-papered wall. Photo: Eric Roth.

THE DOOR NAME ORIGIN - "SHAKER STYLE 1 PANEL"
How many panels should your interior door have? Well! If you’re looking for a truly no-frills product that is nonetheless elegant, this is an interior door you should consider first. This one-panel model is a truly minimal shaker-style design. While just as reliable as the interior doors in our other collections, these interior doors cost less. A lot less, in fact. Again, if simplicity is your thing, do consider this model. The original Shakers (or Shaking Quackers, as they were styled back in the Nineteenth Century) would be immensely pleased to have this product, as it most certainly adheres to their principle of utter simplicity combined with reliability. In its heyday, the community was highly influential when it came to matters of taste, not just in the United States, but in many other countries. The Baroque period that emphasized and worshipped unapologetic, insolent luxury had come to an end. Austere clas... Show more!
FINISH: WHITE
This is a bit tricky. Isn’t White the default finish that would look great on any interior door? Well, not quite.
W. is the color most often associated with perfection, honesty, cleanliness, newness, neutrality, and exactitude. The pigment has been known and used by humans since prehistoric times. In ancient Egypt, W. symbolized purity. Roman patricians paraded around in W. togas to distinguish themselves from the common folk. It was the color of choice of French monarchs. Architects of all epochs used W., with considerable enthusiasm, in various projects and for various reasons. In the United States, architects favored it when designing churches, capitols, and municipal buildings – which is, in fact, a tradition they inherited from classical and Renaissance architecture. According to some experts, most of the buildings in the celebrated Forum were either made of, or clad in, W. marble. In Taoism, it represents the yang or masculine energy, one of the two complementary natures of the universe. Many authors, both classical and contemporary, have referred to W. as a sign of purity, either physical (like William Shakespeare, whose treacherous usurper monarch wishes a heavenly rain would cleanse his blood-stained hand, washing it “white as snow”) or spiritual (like Tennessee Williams, who named his lead character Blanche (derived, incidentally, from the Germanic word blanc)) as a symbol of her innocent child-like spirit, perceptible from the moment she makes her first entrance (through the interior door stage-left).
Back in the Seventeenth Century, Sir Isaac Newton discovered that sunlight is composed of light with wavelengths across the visible spectrum which the human eye perceives as W. It is the lightest of the spectrum, and achromatic (hue-less) to boot, because it fully reflects and scatters all visible wavelengths of light, absorbing none. W. objects stand out in the dark. Depending on the surroundings, an interior door with W. finish might come off as emphatic or tactful, dominant or complementary. It blends seamlessly into most types of decor and, once the owner’s needs and disposition are taken into account, can symbolize - oh, so many different things, while bringing back a myriad memories: from those glorious snowy Alpine slopes and peaks to the fluffy tops of the wayward herd of cumulus cloud heap over the horizon on a balmy afternoon in the Caribbean. Tropical sand beaches are W. due to the high quantity of calcium carbonate they get from tiny bits of seashells ground to powder by the waves. In a number of cultures W. can also symbolize festivity, and be used lavishly to brighten up weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. It is beautiful. Make sure it goes well with your interior door model, though.

The inspiration for the upstairs guest suite was the wife's request to honor the memory of her father- an antique dealer who sold many Asian pieces. Blending Asian with contemporary is a good marriage in interior design. Finding this elaborate glass tile mural in the correct color palette was a wonderful discovery that fit the bill just perfectly! Adhering the mural with silicone to a frosted glass panel, we were able to create a gorgeous focal point which doubled as a semi transparent wall of the roll-in shower. The flower mural design was replicated in select areas of the the silk and wool carpet in the adjoining bedroom.

An interweave of curiosity and celebration at Faridabad’s fancy dinner.
The Dorrance has made a notable contribution to the growth of Faridabad, the largest
metropolitan city in Haryana.
The Dorrance poses as a one-of-a-kind social hub, binding together celebratory experiences and
memories of its guests, augmenting the nightlife of Faridabad.
Designed to draw audiences who are enthusiastic about the city's nightlife, the club complex
follows a contemporary and classical approach with unique design elements integrated into
spaces, highlighting the vibe of the extravaganza. Chromed Design Studio fashions a complex
adhering to the theme of a maze, extracted from the literal meaning of ‘Dorrance’, or,
intriguingly, with design components igniting curiosity in its visitors to explore the dramatics of
every space.
The 10,000 sq. ft. area is divided into five distinct spaces, the main club, the cafe, an open
terrace or family restaurant, a cigar room, and an open kitchen, with every zone, deriving
enriching experiences for its guests. The areas were curated according to the two diverging
crowds of the city, i.e, the corporate crowd and the family crowds. While the club area of
Dorrance attracts the young, the outdoor family lounge and cafe allures the family crowd of the
city.
Dorrance invites its guests through a curious tunnel bound together with arches, and plants
suspended alongside, leading them towards the main door. A total of 15 patterned arches hold
the entrance together that light up in the evening, with one side enabling the guests to get a
glimpse of the semi-covered cafe and the other side covered with green planters. A soft drape
creates a partition between the entrance tunnel and the cafe area, allowing for a visual
connection between the two spaces. The tunnel is the visitors’ first point of contact with the
tangible part of the design, and the careful amalgamation of the key design elements — brightly
lit arches, a soft drape, and plants — gives a photogenic backdrop to the guests, thus
accentuating their first experience.
The entrance tunnel flows towards a series of doors, creating a sense of mystery in the
atmosphere. The main door opens into a smaller entrance foyer which reveals three more
doors, each one leading the guests to a specific space. Every door, including the main one, is
demarcated with a face card — the King for the main door, Jack for the door leading to the club,
Joker for the cigar room, and Queen for the family lounge — which engages the guest with the
space and compels them to open the doors. The flooring of the foyer area follows a radial
pattern with customised marble in black, white, and grey colours. Black Enissle tiles, White
Satvario tiles, and Grey William tiles were cut according to the shape required for creating the
radial pattern, thus accentuating the charm of the theme.
The club is the central feature, tying the design, and the guests together, with distinct elements
outlining the spatial quality of the club. An island bar is situated at the heart of the club adjacent
to the dance floor, with VIP seatings arranged along the walls covered in rich and bold shades
lending a classical touch to the space. The double-height of the club enabled experimentation
with the ceiling and the walls. The ceiling of the club was treated with utmost care and has been
highlighted with the use of eccentric lighting elements. Ornamental chandeliers have been
actively employed to enhance the ceiling, with one large chandelier suspended over the bar and
smaller 30 inches sized chandeliers arranged at strategic locations. A false ceiling hangs 8
inches from the roof, hiding the fire pipes, and embedded with strip lights running around in
various artsy patterns. The innovative use of dimmers controlled by VMX aids in controlling the
intensity of the various lighting fixtures — strip lights and chandeliers — and skillfully brings
forth the club's party spirit. HDMR boards were fixed to the walls with 20 ft glazings to cater to
the acoustics of the club. Artworks and designer elements were hung from the walls with
accent lighting fixtures adding to the celebratory aesthetic of the club.
A cigar room was designed as an alternative approach to an office space. The room served as a
space for the clients to carry out their business meetings while being flexible to hold private,
and informal gatherings. The versatility of the design allowed for incorporating a wine cellar
with shelves for storing documents, giving the clients freedom to use the space as per their
desire, thus changing the culture of office design.
Converging the kitchen and the family lounge area, Dorrance attracts the families of Faridabad
with the addition of spatial features aligned with the inclination of the crowd. The 800 sq. ft.
area is divided into outdoor seating (500 sq. ft.) and an open indoor kitchen (300 sq. ft.). The
outdoor terrace seating holds a small stage for conducting events with patterned lit arches and
high seatings running along the perimeter of the space, lending a mellow, cosy aesthetic to the
terrace.
Dorrance is a confluence of several distinct vibes, resonating with the crowd occupying the
spaces, consciously blended to fabricate transcending experiences filled with a sense of
mystery and curiosity. The innovation in the treatment of spaces, functions, and elements
breaks the conventional approach to club design and delivers a mesmerising setting for the
patrons of the club.

Using the right furniture is an essential element of living room design. Interior designers take this into substantial consideration when planning a home design as it consumes the most space in the living room area. These furniture pieces are treated as “constants,” as once they are positioned in the room, other installments will adjust based on how and where they are placed.
You may not realise it right away, but there are things to consider when buying new living room furniture. If you happen to be thinking about changing your current living room design by purchasing new furniture pieces, then below are a few factors to look at:
1. Size of the home.
The furniture you intend to buy should not only fit in your home but leave enough room for you to move freely. You may want to look at the floor space of the living room first and then inquire about furniture sets that will fit in your allocated space.
A bulky 7-seater may eat up most of your living room space, and this will limit your freedom of movement. Perhaps it would be better to settle with a three or five-seater at the most whose make and structure do not impede your mobility.
2. Durability of the furniture.
Another reason interior designers have high regard for furniture when designing home interiors is that sofas and couches are intended to be used for several years. Hence, you should look for a set that can last for a long time.
You may want to check out furniture sets and compare their form, structure, and material. It is also great to look into the background of their makers, so you have an idea that your sofa is done by a reputable brand.
3. Comfortability.
Not all fluffy cushioned sofas are comfortable. Some of them can be stiff and may cause you pain the long run. Thus, when shopping for a couch, better test its comfortability before purchasing it.
You can check the ergonomics of the sofa or couch to see whether it accommodates your need for comfort without putting your posture at risk. Also, you should know the type of cushion used on the furniture. This way, you know when and how to have your sofa reupholstered or when it is time to dispose it.
4. Form and style.
It is also right that you look into the aesthetics of the furniture. You may have to go through several renovations in your home, and the style you will go for might not always adhere to the style of your sofa.
Hence, you may want to invest in living room furniture that can keep up with the sign of the times, or one that is not difficult to dress up. Some homeowners opt for a sofa set that is made of wood or minimalist steel due to their durability and flexibility to blend in with different home interior trends.
The living room often serves as a witness to your life as a homeowner. With the right choice of furniture, you can enjoy every memory you make in your home.
