The bedroom being not a perfect square, feels warm and cozy. The secret garden wallpaper is to mimic the home's exterior but with a whimsical pattern to feel age appropriate. The rich custom window treatments are reminiscent of a simple flower that feels modern with a traditional touch. Crisp and clean sheets with a blush fringe detail pick up the colors on the wallpaper and tie in with the fringe detail on the bedskirt. White Bedding allows for the wallpaper and fabrics to stand out but placing a kantha throw at the foot of the bed creates contrast and brings in an additional complementary pattern. The starting point of the overall design plan was to change one of the entry points in this kitchen from a narrow doorway to a beautiful archway. Because the existing breakfast nook featured an archway, we decided to mimic that architectural element to create a cohesive look. We paired the white cabinetry with a white quartz countertop that features pretty gray veins. And to complement the design, we added a counter-to-ceiling classic subway tile for the backsplash. The gorgeous Café appliances in matte white help elevate the aesthetics of this room. While the white color helps the appliances blend with the white cabinets, the brass handles and details make them stand out. There is a harmonious tension between the black and brass accessories that bring so much energy into this space. We added open shelving to create a visual interest right above the farmhouse-style sink. The black metal shelves from Cascade Iron filled the gap between the two windows and help in creating an instant focal point. We’ve styled the bottom shelves with everyday items while keeping the pretty decorative items on the top shelf.

This light and bright bathroom includes a stunning stained glass mosaic from Oceanside Glass Tile. The chevron pattern is more contemporary but the neutral colors keep it classic. The use of a more solid white tile for the top half helps balance the space. Filling the niche with the same decorative material is a nice finishing touch. The main bathroom floor is a 12X24 porcelain tile laid in a way to mimic some of the movement from the chevron pattern. Beautiful!

This carefully planned master suite incorporates varying shades of blue and nautical accents to create a romantic bedroom with a nautical twist. The marble and polished steel sectional coffee table's individual pieces imitate boat sails. The lighthouse shaped pendant lights on either side of the bed function to create more space on the nightstand. The round floor lamp in the corner is made of feathers, to represent sea birds. The hand-applied Ralph Lauren silver plated painted wall mimics the shimmer of the sun on the water. All these details give a give a nod towards the sea, tying together the suggestive nautical theme. Rich deep blue velvet curtains paired with white sheers allow privacy and room darkening from the floor to ceiling windows facing the Marina. Warm grays and deep blues accentuate this guest bathroom. A floating vanity was designed with a deep drawer in the middle and smaller drawers to the side. Wall sconces protrude through the mirror for a seamless installation. The sliding shower glass header was recessed into the ceiling to mimic a frameless shower door system. The large horizontal shower niche was designed to match the decorative band. Hexagon floor tiles create a starburst pattern in the floor.

A small, one person vanity, helps to keep the needed space for codes between the items in the bathroom. Traditional details are used in the cabinetry to mimic the design style wanted by the clients. A curved toe arch is the perfect way to keep the toe kick space to stand close to the vanity and allow the cabinet to look like a piece of furniture.

Additional dining table was added in the open space with dark brown table top and chair seats to mimic the hardwood flooring. The legs of the table and chairs were painted white to fit into the rest of the kitchen’s design. A beautiful custom open cage light fixtures provides extra light for when this table is in use. Light green walls, bright white ceiling, and dark hardwood flooring all contrast together to create a unique, contemporary feel.

This Lake Michigan cottage reflects a casual beach style that welcomes a family seeking fun and relaxation on weekend get-a-ways. The color scheme is comprised of blues to mimic the lake and sky, greens to emulate the foliage, and pops of orange and soft yellow cream walls to create the feeling of a warm sunshine. These carefully chosen blues, greens, oranges and yellow cream colors create a flow from indoors to outdoors.

They envisioned designing and building a covered patio off of the back of the house that had a feature wall, a small peninsula with exterior storage and a beverage center. To appeal to both clients’ design styles, a modern structure was built using large steel beams. Soft greys, black, and white were used to establish a minimalist palette. The paneled ceiling was painted in a sleek grey to mimic the appearance of metal. We utilized the back of the house to create a feature wall. 7” wide rustic planks were staggered against the back wall to make the space feel more relaxed. The flooring was created from natural concrete. Honed Quartzite countertops and stainless steel drawers were utilized in the peninsula.

Originally a home with contemporary bones, this beautiful home now combines Old world elements and traditional detailing with fresh and modern twists. Old and new elements coexist in harmony throughout. Upon entrance, a large marble herringbone rug inset into rich wood floors stands ready to welcome and greet. Dual tone marble insets continue down the hallway in uniform repetition drawing the eye to the custom butler’s pantry at the end of the hall. This architecturally beautiful formal living room with a 25 foot wall of windows created design challenges. First challenge was creating luxurious treatments that had elaborate top treatments as well as long down panels that while being luxurious still allowed a lot of light into the room and didn’t over power the crown molding. Another challenge was there was an arched window on the landing area that had to appear stand-alone yet mimic the bigger design. We did quite a few computer renderings with Minutes Matter. We created a center arched swag and jabot treatment to bring the window group together and also repeated the center treatment on the adjoining arched staircase window on the landing area. We applied silk velvet banding with bouillon fringe overlaid with beaded trim as the top treatments of the windows. The down panels were made from a mirrored crinkle sheer and we repeated the velvet banding with crystal trim all the way down on the leading edge to unify the treatments and give weight and balance to the whole treatment. I had purchased some massive 4’ tiebacks a year earlier and saved them for just the right project. This was the one that needed the size and scale of these perfect giant tassel tie backs. We added the bullion trim with the crystal beaded trim to the tie backs to make them match the treatments. Our workroom created wood based cornices for the treatments to hang from to give stability and also to have a base for the architectural scroll pieces to be applied. We painted them in a soft gold to give a unique dimension to the tops of the treatments.

Following the Four Mile Fire, these clients sought to start anew on land with spectacular views down valley and to Sugarloaf. A low slung form hugs the hills, while opening to a generous deck in back. Primarily one level living, a lofted model plane workshop overlooks a dramatic triangular skylight.
