The back door leads to a multi-purpose laundry room and mudroom. Side by side washer and dryer on the main level account for aging in place by maximizing universal design elements.

No one likes it but there's no way around it — every family has laundry. However, having a well designed space like this one can take the drudgery out of washing clothes. Located off the kitchen and next to the back door, this laundry/mud room is part of the family hub. This is a great arrangement for families that need to multi-task — Keeping the front load washer and dryer in a side-by-side configuration allows for a large countertop that is handy for for folding and sorting. This laundry / mud room was created with optimal storage using Waypoint 604S standard overlay cabinets in Painted Cashmere color with a raised panel door. The countertop is Wilsonart in color Betty. A Blanco Silgranit single bowl top mount sink with an Elkay Pursuit Flexible Spout faucet was also installed.

We custom made these built in cubbies. They have storage nooks, coat hooks, and beadboard back capped with a top rail. We added a small wood doorstop on the lower right to prevent the door from banging into piece. After tearing down this home's existing addition, we set out to create a new addition with a modern farmhouse feel that still blended seamlessly with the original house. The addition includes a kitchen great room, laundry room and sitting room. Outside, we perfectly aligned the cupola on top of the roof, with the upper story windows and those with the lower windows, giving the addition a clean and crisp look. Using granite from Chester County, mica schist stone and hardy plank siding on the exterior walls helped the addition to blend in seamlessly with the original house. Inside, we customized each new space by paying close attention to the little details. Reclaimed wood for the mantle and shelving, sleek and subtle lighting under the reclaimed shelves, unique wall and floor tile, recessed outlets in the island, walnut trim on the hood, paneled appliances, and repeating materials in a symmetrical way work together to give the interior a sophisticated yet comfortable feel. This main floor bathroom had to function not only as a Powder Room for guests but also be easily accessible to the backyard pool for the family to change and wash up. Combining the weathered wood vanity and shower wall tiles with the crisp shell-inspired mirror and sand-like floor tile we’ve achieved a space reminiscent of the beach just down the road.
