The Johnson Residence project, designed by Cowbell Designs, encompasses a comprehensive enhancement of the property to suit the client’s lifestyle and preferences. Here’s a description of the project’s features:
Garage Addition: A new garage was constructed adjacent to the existing one, equipped with larger doors to accommodate the client’s large trucks, which could not fit through the original garage doors.
Driveway Extension: The driveway was expanded in both width and length, now reaching the city road, with the necessary public works permitting obtained for this extension.
Front Porch Expansion: The front porch was extended with a newly designed roof and beam system, enhancing the view from the porch and from the interior window behind the porch area.
Pickleball Court: In the backyard, a pickleball court was designed and constructed, providing the clients, who are avid pickleball players, with a private space to enjoy their favorite sport.
These modifications have not only improved the functionality of the residence but also its aesthetic appeal and recreational value.

This project was completed for a client who recently moved from a California mansion to a Georgia penthouse in order to be closer to family. It was a huge down size so it was important for our design team to help obtain that same grand appeal that the client was accustomed to, within a significantly smaller home. We created an open space plan that would allow for entertaining many guests at once. With proper scale in consideration, we chose to use large furniture that would make up the living room and dining space to reinforce that grand effect. Lending to this concept we hung drapery higher than the window frames and a bold ceiling fixture in order to compliment the height of the ceiling. Along with these accommodations we utilized the clients existing collection of eclectic wall art to fill the bare walls. In the end we were able to create a space that did not feel foreign to our client, but rather like home.

Sorghastrums (indian grass) & rudbeckia (black eyed susan); both chosen for their shade tolerance, root tenacity (for anchoring the soil that was added), and seasonal color. blue steel indian grass has blue-purple fall color, lilacs explode with fragrance during the spring, black eyed susan bring summer color, and indian grass and boxwoods bring winter interest. Together this planting obtains seasonal interest and creates ideal habitat for pollinators all while functioning to hold the added soil in place.

This customer installed our 1x6 Premium Primed Shiplap himself using tips obtained from his Contractor, Patrick Frenking from Frenking Construction. The boards went up easily and the look compliments the salvaged steel windows well! The creative process led him down the road of oak window casements which blend well with the home's 1915 craftsman style and really round out the feel the homeowner was looking to obtain. The ultimate goal was to have a Sunroom on steroids for overall better utilization of the backyard. This homeowner is happy to now have better light for the home, and loves that the shiplap helps keep it a bit causal but also increases the "keep it interesting" factor!

A vanishing edge pool and waterfall are focal points for a constraint-driven project governed by a wetlands and associated no-build zone, extensive rock outcrops, steep slopes, and a small, tough-to-access work area. A team of consultants was required in order to obtain variances and other approvals across multiple agencies and meetings. The end result is a beautiful outdoor living space that expresses the architecture and utility of the owner's home into a highwater garden for relaxation and enjoyment.

Britain Way Apartments, located at 333 Lane St. in Irving, has reborn with a fresh rejuvenated appeal. Built in 1962, the original development structure had been noticeably deteriorating in recent years. It had limited amenities, 17 repetitive, monotonous buildings with dull colors and obsolete mansard roofs in dilapidated condition. There was poor on-site drainage and lighting, no perimeter fencing, and several city code violations were recorded in prior years. The Developer’s mission was to convert this dated project into a high quality, eco-friendly, modern, and affordable housing community for the citizens of Irving.
After the remodel was completed, enhanced features include visually pleasing facades using heavy stone accents and sloping roofs, and lush landscaping distributed throughout the site. Additional improvements include expanded kitchen areas with upgraded interior amenities and energy efficient appliances; second bathrooms added to select two- and three-bedroom units; a brand-new spacious clubhouse and community center was provided; pool and picnic areas and an on-site resident activities coordinator to lead an abundance of community services provided to residents at no extra cost. Strategic partnerships, with community-based organizations, local volunteer groups and non-profits offer lifestyle and learning activities such as arts and crafts and after-school reading and tutoring for children, computer classes, lifestyle enrichment classes, nutrition classes and aquatic activities for children and adults.
Britain Way is the first LEED Gold Certified affordable multifamily community in the city of Irving. LEED certification ensures the property will be healthier and safer for residents in addition to providing lower utility expenses, as well as, conserving energy and water. Obtaining LEED Gold Certification for a 60-year-old project was a herculean effort.
Further enhancing the project’s resident quality of life initiatives, the new, stylish Britain Way is designed per implementing “Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design” (CPTED) requirements. Among several other updates, the property was made safer by adding perimeter fencing and increasing lighting levels throughout the site.
