Lake Burton is a 2,775 acre man-made lake with 62 miles of shoreline located in the northeastern corner of Georgia in Rabun County. It is the first lake in a five-lake series called the Tallulah River Watershed that follows the original course of the Tallulah River. The series of lakes starts with Lake Burton as the northernmost lake followed by Lake Seed, Lake Rabun, Lake Tallulah Falls and the eastern arm of Lake Tugalo (the western arm is formed by the Chattooga River. The lakes are owned and operated by the Georgia Power Company to generate hydroelectric energy for Georgia's largest city, Atlanta. At one time these lakes were the largest producers of electricity in the state of Georgia. Now, they only provide peak power supply.
The lake was built in a deep valley located along a 10 mile section of the Tallulah River. The Lake Burton Dam was closed on December 22, 1919 and the lake started to fill. The dam is a gravity concrete dam, with a height of 128 feet and a span of 1,100 feet. The spillway is equipped with eight gates 22 feet wide by 6.6 feet high. The total capacity at an elevation of 1,866.6 feet is 108,000 acre-ft, of which 106,000 acre-ft is usable storage. The generating capacity of the dam is 6,120 kilowatts (two units).Lake Burton is the highest Georgia Power lake in Georgia.
Lake Burton gets its named from the town of Burton, which was the second largest town in Rabun County with a population of approximately 200 but now lies below the lake's surface. The town (and the lake) was named after local prominent citizen Jeremiah Burton and was situated along the road from Clayton, Georgia to the Nacoochee Valley. Andrew Jackson Ritchie served as the postmaster for the area for several years. Gold was first discovered in Rabun County where Dicks Creek and the Tallulah River come together and was the reason for the town's founding in the early 1800s.
The Lake Burton Fish Hatchery and Moccasin Creek State Park are located on the western side of the lake. Lake Burton is home to several species of fish, including Spotted Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Bass, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, White Catfish, Walleye, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Yellow Perch.
The residents of Lake Burton are a mix of permanent residents and seasonal vacationers who together make-up the Lake Burton Civic Association, a local organization who goal is to maintain the lake through volunteer clean-ups and other such events. We included a sepia color tone over the original poster art and used this as a color palate them for the entire common area of this lower level. New premium textured carpeting covers most of the floor, and on the ceiling, we added LED lighting, Madagascar ebony beams, and a two-tone ceiling paint by Sherwin Williams. ACE Content wanted to renovate their entire space and create a new layout. The existing floor, partitions, ceiling, and lighting were all demolished. They wanted an updated space that allowed for more flexibility between sections in the office. In order to create a flexible space, I designed accordion doors that were fitted for the meeting room spaces, and designed an open floor plan to encourage collaboration in the office.
The accordion style doors and glass/steel mullion partitions were based off of the designs from the Anomaly Door Designs 2017. Anomaly and ACE Content are sister companies and wanted a similar aesthetic.

Hull HistoricalMy clients had always been inspired by the grand Tudor Revival homes of the early 20th century and commissioned Hull Historical to recreate the authentic custom millwork, paneling and doors for their new Tudor Revival home. Our inspiration came from 2 great English homes, Stan Hywett, a great Tudor Revival home in Ohio, built for the founder of Goodyear Tires. Also, the Woodbine Mansion, built in 1911 for the son of the Pabst Brewing Company. We were fortunate to purchase three rooms of architectural millwork from the woodbine home, which was originally fabricated by the Huber Company of New York. Upon completion of this project, the architectural salvage comprised 15% of the final quantity of paneling installed. The remainder was custom fabricated by Hull Historical at our shop in Fort Worth, TX and installed at the clients home.
The commission, based on historic precedent, constituted antique paneling on the main floor, beamed ceilings and all the doors in the home. The new paneling, including the kitchen cabinetry is made from a combination of new quarter-sawn white oak and antique white oak salvaged from old barns and buildings. All the oak was fumed in an ammonia-filled chamber to produce a cocoa color and deep feel giving the millwork rough character and a timeless look that my client loved.
The millwork also served to give the home a hierarchy, with simple paneling combined with board and batten doors downstairs, then more ornate paneling, with carvings on the main floor. Additionally, the main floor features mostly 8 and 10 panel doors. All woodwork was hand-pegged with oak pegs. Some of the paneling features a unique Mason’s Miter, a historic joinery technique inspired from stone work.

Thump Architectural FittingsSouthbank, the City skyline, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, The Story Bridge: These are undoubtedly great Brisbane landmarks and having them all on your doorstep; or rooftop to be precise, is something pretty special. So, in fact, is the rooftop they lie beyond.
This rooftop sits above an old mechanics garage which has been converted from the original 2 story commercial space and transformed into a truly magnificent four level abode, in an enviable location, right in the heart of Brisbane.
Working on a project like this & being able to stretch our legs & step away from the norm was such a nice change & a great chance to showcase what else Thump can do beyond the X1 Series Frameless Glass Balustrade!
We used rusted steel panels instead of glass on the staircase which produced a phenomenal effect. The staircase encapsulates many of the design elements used throughout the interior: rusted steel, copper, brass and timber, to bring texture and warmth, all of which are designed to age well.
“The staircase was almost the starting point of the house.” Lesley-Anne says. “We decided it should be the spine of the building. It’s become a light well & main connecting piece and divides the bigger spaces.”
We used powder coated black posts and rails on the rooftop terrace in place of our signature stainless steel which gives a stunning visual effect, almost framing the perfect River & City views you look out over.
We also manufactured and installed all the brass panels and brass rods throughout the house which were designed to provide an intimate feeling of openness & space to connect the four levels.
Surroundings Architects did an absolute stellar job on this conversion that it is no surprise at all that this amazing transformation won QLD Renovation of the year 2014- Housing Industry Association (HIA) for its builders, MCD, and was also featured in Brisbane News:

Claude Clemaron Luxury Bespoke FurnitureThis luxury private members’ club bar and lounge interior was originally designed by The L&C Company, based in Surrey. The client then commissioned Clémaron to develop and built the bar and lounge based on these designs. With our commitment to exceptional quality and attention to detail, we brought the final design to life with materials sourced specifically for the project. Our cabinetmakers are expert at handcrafting fitted cabinetry with a superior finish and exquisite embellishments. The resulting furniture exudes style and sophistication with custom mirrors, beautiful display shelving and lighting.
The countertops are made from a classic black quartz stone from local Surrey firm Elliott Stone Works. The hand finished double ogee waterfall edge looks stunning.
Handcrafted in oak wood, the bar front has a matt chic blue-grey finish with enhanced elegant, raised beading and an antique brass heavy duty foot rail. The back bar furniture features a stainless-steel sink, drainer, storage and undercounter appliances. A smaller two-stool bar console table has a clear 6mm safety glass countertop which is easy to maintain and adds reflective sparkle. The TV screen on the wall has been framed and hand painted to match in Farrow & Ball Blackened with brass inlaid strips hand finished with an antique patina.
The built-in back bar and drinks unit combines display shelving and lower storage cupboards and drawers with matt black bar handles. The black quartz stonework under the central mirror is stepped to display bottles and backlit with recessed LED lights. The top cornice is also stepped to match. The unit’s antiqued mirror glass was produced by Rough Old Glass and installed by our cabinetmakers. All the mirrors are framed in real oak richly imbued with a warm cognac brown stain to enhance the grain.
