This residential roof deck was lots of fun to design and build. Rooftopia designed and installed a Renson louvered pergola over the seating and lounge area of the deck to add a solid waterproof cover with an outdoor fan. The louvered pergola has more flexibility to open and allow light over the roof or remain closed for full shade and rain protection. We integrated automated retractable fabric screens into both pergola systems to enclose the space and provide shade against the western sun. The beautiful shadows and ambient light in this gorgeous rooftop outdoor space make this perfectly warm and glowy in the afternoon. We built a custom fabricated planter box out of corten steel. They gave us the dimensions and told us what they wanted and we built it on site. The customer was very particular on how he wanted it to look and we nailed it.

This rooftop deck was designed and installed for HGTV's Kitchen Crashers in 2013. The ipe deck panels and the ceramic tile are on a floating pedestal system. The large cedar planter box is filled with sedums, coneflowers, and alliums. The kicthen has a cedar bar, an outdoor refrigerator, a DCS stainless steel sink, and DCS stainless steel grill. The both have sleek covers for a clean look when they are not being used. The Tucci umbrella allows for shade to be moved where it is needed. The hot tub was an existing feature that we had to design around. It was softened with a boxwood planter and made more functional with an ipe step sitting on top of the tile.

Photography: 360hometours.ca A Charming Cape Cod Home in West Vancouver underwent a full renovation and redesign by Tina McCabe of McCabe Design & Interiors. The homeowners wanted to keep the original character of the home whilst giving their home a complete makeover. The kitchen space was expanded by opening up the kitchen and dining room, adding French doors off the kitchen to a new deck, and moving the powder room as much as the existing plumbing allowed. A custom kitchen design with custom cabinets and storage was created. A custom "princess bathroom" was created by adding more floor space from the adjacent bedroom and hallway, designing custom millworker, and specifying equisite tile from New Jersey. The home also received refinished hardwood floors, new moulding and millwork, pot lights throughout and custom lighting fixtures, wainscotting, and a new coat of paint. Finally, the laundry was moved upstairs from the basement for ease of use.
