This classic Seattle home refresh is layered with fresh and calming blues, creamy whites and pale grays. Durable performance fabrics were a priority to hold up well to kids and pets. A beloved Knoll chair and ottoman were recovered in a soft, curl up in me fabric. A custom shelf was installed on the wall behind the sofa to act as a landing spot for ambient lighting and decor accessories. The dining table received a refinish in a deeper hue and was paired with upholstered chairs that can be sat in for hours. The new area rug is part of an indoor outdoor collection and will hold up to spills and dirt. New lighting throughout the home added a much needed brightness and a collection of artwork from years of global travel now grace the walls. One of our favorite pops of fun is the ombre stair detail leading down to the basement family play and hang out zone. The family room received a durable sectional in a modern gray and Rifle Paper accent pillows add playful pattern and color.

This designer’s ideal is homeowners with a clear vision, set priorities, and values that align seamlessly with ours. These clients, an accomplished artist and the owner of a generational hops growing farm, were collaborative and trusting from the start. They conscientiously selected a team of Architect (Green Hammer), General Contractor (Cellar Ridge) and ATIID for furnishings and finishing touches. Each firm was able to meticulously manage their leg of the project, while collaborating wholistically with each other and the homeowners.
The family farmhouse, lovingly named “Westwood,” was showing the wear one expects after serving a growing family for decades. The owner’s dream was to revive, open up, and breathe modern life into each space, while respecting the home’s heritage.
One of our first collaborations was the light fixture that would grace the main two-story entry hall. HiiH Lights in Astoria, Oregon, was commissioned to bring “the function of light, the craft of paper, and the art of sculpture” to the home. Visiting the maker’s space – a massive barn on his coastal property – was such an inspiring adventure! Original work by the resident artist sets an ethereal tone in the space, and an antique bench handsomely blends the old with the new.
A wall that divided the home’s living room and kitchen was removed, and the breezy and bright gathering room was born. Light walls, warm wood tones, cozy upholstery, clean lines and heritage elements create a welcoming atmosphere and invite lounging and conversation. The sun-drenched nook is the home’s main indoor dining area, with an extension table and sculpted chairs that are just right for family gatherings or morning rituals with the Sunday paper. The kitchen is a chef’s dream with every modern amenity, but its casual attitude is “let’s make a mess and eat!”
The owner’s artwork graces the mantel over the new fireplace that was carved from a tree felled on the property, illustrating the thoughtful consideration of each element. The muted wool area rugs in the entryways and great room are hard-wearing for farm life, and the furniture’s classic lines, bold contrasting colors, deep seating and soft textures encourage cozy conversations or large group gatherings.
The library is undoubtedly our favorite space in this home. Tucked in “speakeasy style” behind a hidden (wallpapered!) door in the moody wet bar, and drenched in deep green, the room offers a quiet retreat that hugs you in an embrace of books and family photos. The cozy settee nestled between the bookcases sits opposite a custom pair of modern cognac leather wing chairs. The area rug continues the storied look without the antique price tag with a piece from Loloi’s “Heritage Collection.”
A little va-va-voom was requested for the powder bath and boy did we deliver! Custom wallpaper plays over original wainscotting and ceilings wrapped in more glorious green. The space evokes joy every time you open the door!
A primary suite that would “transport us to another world” and be “classic yet modern, peaceful, collected and uncluttered” was a tall order. Our new furniture layout takes full advantage of the view of wine country hills and the Willamette River, welcomes fireside lounging, and serves as a calm respite for the lovely owners.
Westwood Farmhouse truly was inspired by family, genuine love for home and graciousness for all who enter. Finishing the job was emotional for all involved because we were truly made to feel like part of the family.

This discretely coastal primary bath has become her new favorite self-care sanctuary. What began as a simple update turned into a space that now exemplifies a personal retreat—calming, fresh, and entirely her own. By mixing and matching tiles in shades of blue and turquoise, the room captures the fluid beauty of water in motion. The color palette plays like the sea itself: some tiles smooth and glassy, others textured like rippling waves.
There’s a playful current that runs through the space, balanced with restraint and elegance. A soft, spa green graces the walls, offering a light wash of calm without feeling theme-y. It’s subtle, yet undeniably refreshing.
A bit of natural wood adds warmth and an organic layer to the design— a teak shower stool, a slatted vanity with a lived-in patina – and a live-edge floating shelf to come for a trailing plant to complete the outdoor shower ambiance.
These elements ground the space and keep it from feeling overly polished. They remind her of driftwood on the shore, sun-bleached and smoothed by time. Lighting is soft and layered, mimicking the way sunlight filters through sea spray, and even the hardware—brushed nickel with embedded abalone—feels like treasures found at low tide.
This bathroom isn’t about showiness. It’s about retreat. It’s the exhale at the end of the day, the slow mornings with coffee in hand. While its aesthetic is clearly influenced by the sea, the result is timeless and deeply personal. It’s not a coastal cliché, but a quiet tribute to her love of the shore—wrapped in self-care, serenity, and style. This is where she lingers, where she takes her time, and where she feels most at ease. A room that invites her to breathe deeper and be still.
Allow me to help you finish that room so you too can find peace in function and design!

This residential landscaping project in Tucson, Arizona, features a complete backyard makeover designed for low-maintenance, family-friendly outdoor living. Seamlessly blending durable synthetic turf with custom hardscaping, the design creates a drought-tolerant, year-round green space perfectly suited for the desert climate of Southern Arizona.
Key Project Features & Materials:
Kid-Friendly Play Area: The centerpiece of the yard is a high-quality artificial grass installation that provides a safe, soft, mud-free, and highly durable foundation for a large children's wooden playset and swing set.
Custom Hardscaping: Elegant, curved concrete brick pavers form a wide walkway and defined border, gracefully separating the functional synthetic turf from the outer landscape elements.
Desert-Adapted Accents: Integrated river rock and gravel decorative borders flank the masonry privacy wall, beautifully complementing the local Tucson environment while requiring zero watering.
Tree Well Integration: The synthetic turf layout includes built-in, paver-ringed tree wells to preserve existing desert flora and landscape trees while maximizing the usable square footage of the lawn.

Once modest and tucked away off a dead end road, Levy Park received a revitalization to re-engage the local community. CityStone, Holland, Roman Cobble and Verona pavers were chosen in the design to help separate different areas of the park, add a sense of playfulness and accentuate natural features.
The transformation included native landscaping, interactive water features, a dog park, garden, park pavilion and children’s play area. Pavers helped create and define each of these spaces through use of colors, shapes and inlay patterns. Variegated and whimsical paver patterns invoke a sense of spirited movement and fun.
The use of multiple paver shapes, colors, and upgraded textures added depth and beauty to this cunningly conceived urban space, by accenting native grass areas and designating different park sections. The central grand walkways gracefully arc throughout the space with large plank style pavers, creating a modern boardwalk feel.
Recognizing the park’s development history dating back to 1941, incorporating new design elements while maintaining original aspects was important to the redesign. The chosen pavers were able to integrate with the longstanding historical elements, while adding an artful refresh to the park.
A local resident stated, “This is hands down the most gorgeous and well-designed park I’ve ever seen. I fell in love the second I stepped foot into it.” Through thoughtful design and paver choices utilizing different shapes, colors and textures, Levy Park is now a community hot spot.

I was contacted by the Realtor who sold this house to his friend in San Marino to help with the interior design of the extensive remodel. The 3,777 sf house with 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms was built in 1948 and was in need of some major changes. San Marino, CA, incorporated in 1913, was designed by its founders to be uniquely residential, with expansive properties surrounded by beautiful gardens, wide streets, and well maintained parkways. In 2010, Forbes Magazine ranked the city as the 63rd most expensive area to live in the United States. There are little to no homes priced under US$1,000,000, with the median list price of a single family home at US$2,159,000. We decided to tear down walls, remove a fireplace (gasp!), reconfigure bathrooms and update all the finishes while maintaining the integrity of the San Marino style. Here are some photos of the home after.
The kitchen was totally gutted. Custom, lacquered black and white cabinetry was built for the space. We decided on 2-tone cabinets and 2 door styles on the island and surrounding cabinets for visual impact and variety. Cambria quartz in Braemar was installed on the counters and back splash for easy clean up and durability. New Schonbek crystal chandeliers and silver cabinetry hardware are the jewelry, making this space sparkle. Custom Roman shades add a bit of softness to the room and custom barstools in white and black invite guests to have a seat while dinner is being prepared.
In the dining room we opted for custom moldings to add architectural detail to the walls and infuse a hint of traditional style. The black lacquer table and Louis chairs are custom made for the space with a peacock teal velvet. A traditional area rug and custom window treatments in a blue-green were added to soften the space. The Schonbek Crystal Rain chandelier is the show stopper in the space with pure sparkle and graceful traditional form.
The living room is host to custom tufted grey velvet sofas, custom accent chair with ottoman in a silver fabric, custom black and while media center, baby grand piano with mini Schonbeck Crystal Rain chandelier hung above, custom tufted velvet tuffet for extra seating, one-of-a-kind art and custom window coverings in a diamond grey fabric. Sparkle and pizzazz was added with purple, crystal and mirrored accessories.
The occupant of this home is a 21 year old woman. Her favorite colors are baby pink and blue. I knew this was possibly going to be my only chance in my design career to go nuts with the color pink, so I went for it! A majestic pink velvet tufted bed dressed with luxurious white linens is the focal point. Flanking the bed are two pink crystal chandeliers, a custom white lacquer desk with a baby blue Louis chair and a custom baby blue nightstand with a Moroccan door design. A super soft white shag rug graces the floor. Custom white silk window coverings with black out lining provide privacy and a completely dark room when wanted. An acrylic hanging bubble chair adds whimsy and playfulness.
The master bathroom was a complete transformation. A clawfoot slipper tub sits inside the shower, clad with marble wall and floor tiles and a basketweave with custom baby blue accent tiles. A frameless shower wall separates the wet and dry areas. A custom baby blue cabinet with crystal knobs, topped with Cambria Quartz Whitney, was built to match the bedroom’s nightstand. Above hangs a pair of pink crystal wall sconces and a vintage rococo mirror painted in high gloss white. Crystal and nickel faucets and fixtures add more sparkle and shine.

Once modest and tucked away off a dead end road, Levy Park received a revitalization to re-engage the local community. CityStone, Holland, Roman Cobble and Verona pavers were chosen in the design to help separate different areas of the park, add a sense of playfulness and accentuate natural features.
