Sterling reached out to interior designer Kyle Schuneman of Apt2B to help convert his garage into a man-cave / office into a space where he could conduct some of his day-to-day tasks, run his lines, or just relax after a long day. As Schuneman began to visualize Sterling’s “creative workspace”, he and the Apt2B team reached out Paintzen to make the process a little more colorful. The room was full of natural light, which meant we could go bolder with color. Schuneman selected a navy blue – one of the season’s most popular shades (especially for mancaves!) in a flat finish for the walls. The color was perfect for the space; it paired well with the concrete flooring, which was covered with a blue-and-white patterned area rug, and had plenty of personality. (Not to mention it makes a lovely backdrop for an Emmy, don’t you think?) Schuneman’s furniture selection was done with the paint color in mind. He chose a bright, bold sofa in a mustard color, and used lots of wood and metal accents throughout to elevate the space and help it feel more modern and sophisticated. A work table was added – where we imagine Sterling will spend time reading scripts and getting work done – and there is plenty of space on the walls and in glass-faced cabinets, of course, to display future Emmy’s in the years to come. However, the large mounted TV and ample seating in the room means this space can just as well be used hosting get-togethers with friends. We think you’ll agree that the final product was stunning. This gorgeous contemporary glass front custom wine cellar in Corona Del Mar, Newport Beach, California is an eye catcher. The sleek, glass ultra modern wine room was a unique and exciting project for our team here at Vintage Cellars. The stone bar extends into the wine cellar itself, but due to mechanical, cooling, and condensation concerns, our expert custom wine cellar team knew that extra measures needed to be taken to ensure the end quality remained top notch. The bar itself was divided into two sections, one cut section outside to make up the main seating area and the other inside the glass wine room. The stone bar, which is porous, takes up a good portion of the front facing glass panel. Had the bar simply extended into the wine cellar and been sealed off at the joints, the stone would have eventually transferred in enough heat and moisture to cause condensation. Proper wine cellar design and planning enabled this wine cellar to not only look fantastic, but function perfectly as well. One interesting unique feature in this Corona Del Mar, Newport Beach, Orange County, California glass and metal wine cellar is an extension of floor to ceiling frames mounted to the backside of the stone bar. This feature was made to seamlessly show consistency in floor to ceiling vintageview frames throughout. On the left below the countertop is a black stained poplar wine racking system for single 750ml bottles. Above lies room for display case storage, room for large format bottles, and label forward vintageview design racking to the ceiling. On the middle wall of this wine room is room for case storage below, similarly with triple deep vintageview floor to ceiling frames dying into more case storage above. The renovation of this Wallingford craftsman-style bungalow is a thoughtful mix of contemporary ideals within the traditional language of the existing home. Overall, the house was in good shape, but there were unique changes the owner wanted to promote socializing and cooking, relatable to the craftsman style, setting an eclectic balance. Natural light transforms the space. The vaulted ceiling and five over-sized skylights, plus glass doors allow sunlight to pour through and fill the kitchen and social space with tons of daylight. To extend the kitchen, the busiest room in the home, a NanaWall opens to a tiered deck with a connection to the backyard and intimate garden views. There is an in-kitchen Wood Stone pizza oven. An 18-foot long island runs the length of the kitchen where homemade pizzas are made, plus it conceals a shuffleboard table. A black metal wall holds eight beer taps and a surface for creativity. The tatami room serves as an adaptive space – for eating, sleeping, playing games, and socializing.

The pool design is based on the upright wings of the airplane, as the owner is an avid aviator as well as tri-athlete. Large expanses of glass allow natural light to stream into the year-round training space. Cedar siding and extensive stone work ground the modern form of the building in the natural landscape.
