I was recently hired to stage an older (yet very charming) duplex in Carlisle, PA. The home is vacant and had been a rental for the past few years. It has adorable wood moulding throughout, as well as hardwood flooring on the main level. Considering what the homeowner has invested in appliances and other repairs, as well as realtor fees, the budget for staging was right around $1000. Completely enclosed in glass, this custom wine cellar in Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles, California, is sure to turn some heads. Located directly off of the kitchen and dining room, this custom wine room / glass wine cellar / modern wine cellar / contemporary wine cellar holds upwards of 200 bottles. Glass, Metal, and stone are all utilized in our favorite combination for a gorgeous contemporary masterpiece. Double deep metal wine racks / metal wine racking is utilized here, placed a few feet off of the ground to allow for potential case storage space on the tile below. Black metal wine racking was also chosen, as opposed to silver metal wine racks in order to really make the space pop. The glass here is single pane. Master Wine Cellar Builders and Design Build team at Vintage Cellars recommend using dual paned, thermally insulated glass in wine cellars to minimize potential for condensation, as well as making sure that your wine cellar is able to maintain proper temperature and humidity constantly. Single pane glass simply does not have a high enough R Value of insulation, though it can make the space look a bit more clean and elegant. This project transforms an existing garage into a modern Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) designed for potential rental income. The client wanted to give the garage a fresh new look while taking full advantage of the stunning views of City Park, Downtown Denver, and the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The ADU features a 1-bed, 1-bath open-concept design with expansive windows that flood the space with natural light and showcase the views. Inside, the living area flows into a functional workspace, while the kitchen blends natural wood tones with dark marble countertops for a warm, contemporary feel. The exterior combines a sleek modern design with wood accents and a sloped roofline to compliment the primary residence. A staircase sits beside the upgraded garage as a private entry for guests separate from the main residence. This design balances functionality, style, and the potential for long-term value as a rental property.

The bones of this 1908 Glen Park home had been compromised by years and years of awkward remodels. The front door led directly to the private bedroom level, while the public gathering spaces were one-level down, with the main staircase nearly dropping you into the existing kitchen. Potentially spectacular views of an existing mature redwood tree and broad city views beyond were entirely ignored and inaccessible. We first unraveled the knot of the plan with a new split-level entryway and connecting stair.
