Photo shoot of beautifully renovation historic home in the Sandhills of NC. A lovely home, I could not get enough of. Without a doubt, professional photos are the most critical component of an online marketing campaign for Builders, Designers, Real Estate Agents and Sellers. This stunning home is an example of superior renovation and design. Renovation by Copper and Walnut Interior Designers and construction by Latitude Builders.

This project focused on restoring and transforming a historic pressed tin ceiling that had accumulated significant wear over time. Years of modifications had left the ceiling with nail holes, damaged areas, missing ornamental details, and inconsistent finishes that hid much of the original craftsmanship.
Our team carefully repaired the damaged sections and rebuilt missing ornamental elements to restore the integrity of the original design. Once the repairs were complete, the entire ceiling was professionally prepared and refinished.
The ceiling and exposed HVAC ductwork were finished in Sherwin-Williams “Caviar,” a deep, rich tone that highlights the intricate patterns and architectural details of the pressed tin panels. The darker finish adds contrast and depth to the space, allowing the historic texture and decorative elements to stand out rather than blend into the background.
The result is a dramatic transformation that brings new life to the historic ceiling while preserving its character. What was once a worn and inconsistent surface is now a striking architectural feature that anchors the room and celebrates the craftsmanship of the original tin work.

When Blues music legend and fourth generation builder, Albert Cummings and his interior designer wife, Christina decided to build their forever home in the Berkshire Mountains, they knew they wanted Wood-Mode cabinetry throughout. After specifying Wood-Mode in many of their customers’ homes, the Cummings collaborated with Wood-Mode dealer Vonnie Marcyoniak of Kitchens & Baths by Herzenberg to translate their vision into ideal spaces within their own build. The “House That Blues Built” features spaces inspired by the homeowners’ vision and unique background.
The Cummings put enormous thought into every space of their home, spending years collecting the design ideas they would eventually incorporate. It is Wood-Mode’s craftmanship they were familiar with and wanted the “feel” of their cabinetry – a quality that they know will last a lifetime – and the finishing touches inside each drawer and behind every cabinet.
Starting in the kitchen where Christina gave a lot of thought to how the space would be used, pulling inspiration from a range hood, and incorporating furniture details such as the Vintage Navy Blue island that would become the focal point of the room. Taking advantage of the kitchen’s 10 foot ceilings, upper glass front cabinets were designed to safely store yet publicly showcase heirloom cookie jars. Professional-grade appliances were selected, such as an integrated coffee machine, not only for appearance but because of Christina’s love for cooking and entertaining.
Christina shared that her favorite room in the house is the pantry, which is open and visible to the kitchen. Fitted with floor to ceiling cabinets in the same Vintage Navy Blue as the island, the space includes floating walnut shelves and a farmhouse sink with a mountaintop view.
The most innovative space of the home can be found on the lower floor in the guitar bar. Designed for acoustic perfection, the space includes a full-size bar where friends and family can gather to enjoy nights of music. To create the look and feel of a New Orleans Blues Bar, the Cummings’ chose Plain Sawn American Oak, which provides an interesting texture, and then finished it in an Ebony stain.

This Highland Village kitchen remodel centers around one show-stopping element: Taj Mahal Quartzite. This natural stone is highly sought after for its creamy, marble-like translucence and incredible durability. However, it is notoriously difficult to cut without cracking. Because we own Stonemeyer Granite, we don't trust this expensive material to third-party sub-contractors. We fabricated and installed this island in-house to ensure perfection.
The "Operator" Difference:
The Stone: You are looking at a premium slab of Taj Mahal Quartzite. Unlike engineered quartz, this natural stone has depth and movement that can't be faked. It is harder than granite and scratch-resistant, making it the ultimate surface for a luxury kitchen.
The Precision: Look closely at the undermount sink cutout. Our fabrication process ensures a flawless, polished edge that reveals the stone's inner beauty. We paired it with a professional Stainless Steel Undermount Sink and high-arc faucet, installed by our plumbing division (Haltex Plumbing) for a leak-free guarantee.
The Palette: We used the soft, warm veining of the quartzite to bridge the gap between the Dark Stained Island Cabinetry and the lighter rustic elements in the living room (peeking through in the background).
The Flow: The multi-tonal wood-look flooring was selected to hide traffic wear while complementing the warm gold tones in the countertops.
Materials Used:
Countertop: Taj Mahal Quartzite (Polished)
Sink: 32" Stainless Steel Single Basin
Cabinetry: Custom Maple with Espresso Stain

A wonderful antique Art Deco slip shade chandelier, made by the Lincoln Company, and dating from the 1930’s. This six-light chandelier begins with a hammered canopy, coming down in a chain to a trumpet-shaped flower; five chains descend from the flower to support the chandelier body below. The fixture's slipper shades are ornamented with an overlapping design of flowers and circles. The chandelier frame features a matching stylized flower design with geometric details on a hammered background. This light fixture is in very good antique condition with no cracks or breaks to the glass, just the expected fleabites around the edges. The chandelier has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning switch on the chandelier for nostalgia’s sake. This chandelier is 16-5/8" wide, 19-1/4" tall (body only), and 38” long overall.
