Inspiration for a timeless home office remodel in Other

This Bonita Bay home, located in a 2,400-acre gated community with 1,400 acres of parks, nature preserves, lakes and open spaces, is an ideal location for this retired couple. They loved everything about their home—the neighborhood, yard, and the distance to shopping areas. But, one vital amenity was lacking—a spacious family room. The clients needed a new space to read and showcase their treasured artwork. Building a first-floor addition was the perfect solution to upgrading their living conditions. As the project evolved, they also added a built-in book case/entertainment wall. With minimal disruption to existing space and to the family, who lived in the home throughout the remodeling project, Progressive Builders was able to dig up a small section of the front yard, in the area where the addition would sit. We then installed a new foundation and constructed the walls and roof of the addition before opening up the existing exterior wall and linking the new and old spaces. An important part of the design process was making sure that the addition blended stylistically with the original structure of the home. Progressive Builders carefully matched the existing stucco finish on the exterior of the home and the natural stone floors that existed inside the home. Distinctive trim work was added to the new addition, giving the new space a fresh, updated look. In the end, the remodel seamlessly blended with the original structure, and the client now spends more time in their new family room addition than any other room in their home.

Working with Progressive Design Build, Mike Spreckelmeier helped the homeowners formulate a list of ideas about what they wanted to achieve in the renovation; then, guided them through the process of planning their remodel. The renovation focused on reconfiguring the layout to extend the outdoor kitchen and living area—to include a new outdoor kitchen, dining area, sitting area and fireplace. Finishing details comprised a beautiful wood ceiling, cast stone accents, and porcelain tile. Only limited by the family’s need to keep the existing floor tile, Progressive Design Build utilized the existing footprint of the kitchen, but gave the space a much more open, airy feeling by removing a large bank of upper cabinets that divided the space. We satisfied our client’s need for entertaining family and friends by incorporated a dry bar into the kitchen design that also included a wine fridge. The open floor plan required a natural, blended transition between the kitchen and the living area. We used matching granite countertops, subway tile, and glass upper cabinets with under cabinet lighting. In the main kitchen, white subway tile was installed as a backsplash throughout the kitchen, extending to the island under the hi-top counter. Finished end panels on the cabinets were also used to give the kitchen a finished look. A decorative hood became the focal point in the room, not only creating much-needed ventilation, but also a balance to the space. The hood was trimmed out with matching white cabinet trim materials and decorative porcelain tile crown molding and accent bands. With a big idea set, Progressive Design Build designed a new functional space with streamlined surfaces using a variety of Dura Supreme flat panel Quarter-Sawn red oak cabinets that offer plenty of storage options. Appliance panels and a stunning 3CM Taj Mahal Quartz countertop contribute to a sleek but livable feel. Clean and simple, making a powerful visual statement, Progressive designed significant countertop space into the cooking area and sink, large center island, and two separate bar areas. Progressive also made sure to reinforce the support for the sitting area to handle the extra weight of this attractive countertop choice.
