But how will you like it in 7,304 days or 20 years when it no longer works? So what do you do when the honeymoon is over? Move? Or stay and improve? More and more people are making their home into their last home. Let's face it. Design is only as timeless as the people who live in it. When our families grow or shrink, or our knees give out, the design of our home needs to catch up to us—to accommodate the current us as well as the future us. In the case of these homeowners, it became clear that nothing really worked anymore or looked aesthetically pleasing. Their lives at home had changed in many ways and their home needed to catch up. So, we redesigned the entire layout with longevity in mind. We upgraded all the surfaces, solved the unsightly aspects, and gave them functionality balanced properly with a modern, uplifting aesthetic. More and more homeowners are considering the possibility of a “forever home” instead of the move-up approach, which usually includes elements of universal design and/or aging-in-place remodeling.

The city was very cognizant of the importance of keeping a low profile at this crestline and required extensive story poles and photo evidence of the proper height and siting so as not to be seen from certain selected vantage points. Originally built for Pamplemousse's 5th anniversary, this wine cellar proves classic and timeless with distressed maple doors and traditional redwood racking behind them. Vintage Wine Cellars and Jeffrey Strauss, famed Chef and incredible philanthropist in San Diego, have a long history of working together.. In addition to this cellar and multiple others in the Pamplemousse Restaurant grounds, we also had the pleasure of designing and building Jeffrey's personal home cellar as well. A little more about the restaurant display cellar: Originally designed and built by Vintage Wine Cellars in 2001, this custom wine room boasts triple deep redwood wine racking, a three opening door system, and room for up to 800 bottles. These wine cabinets are sealed off by Barolo style wine cellar doors with dual pane glass. We installed it with Q-Lon to maintain an airtight seal around the door. We stained the doors with a Chestnut finish. We added a fixed glass window between the doors. We illuminated the high-reveal display rows with LED display lighting. The recessed LED lighting illuminates the wine racks from the top. Inside, premium redwood wine racks accommodate up to 840 wine bottles securely. We incorporated various racking styles to add character and functionality go the wine cellar. A ductless split refrigeration system from Arctic Metalworks Inc maintains the wine cabinets at the ideal climate conditions. Completely enclosed in glass and stainless steel metal framing, this custom wine cellar is a hybrid style - with both metal wine racking and wood wine racking / metal wine racks / wood wine racks. In the upper section, metal pegs were used to store the wine bottles neck out with corks forward. This style allows for a high reveal angled display of each wine bottle, all the while ensuring that each cork remains wet and wines are stored properly for long term and graceful aging. Directly below is a sweeping row of angled high reveal display.
