I have been remodeling homes with an eye towards maximizing function in small and surprising spaces. I like to utilize simple solutions to solve large working issues. I was born in the Seattle area, and have done a lot of traveling around the world. I begin my design process with an inspirational piece from my client—a teacup, a photo, a special gift, an heirloom—and then move the design toward a personalized solution of function and beauty. In 1833, a spectacular meteor shower fell across the night skies of Alabama. One century later, Frank Perkins composed a jazz tune inspired by the event: Stars Fell on Alabama. Our own version of the tune sparkles with a composition of Tree Magnolias and Illuminated brown and cream nylon flowers.

This cozy room off the kitchen was converted into a family room den with walk-out access to the garden. The french doors were painted black and new printed drapery panels were hung. A deep leather sofa was positioned behind a tufted upholstered ottoman. The TV was placed on a custom painted sideboard, which also provides overflow storage for the homeowner. Black and white photography, chunky knit accessories, and a jute rug complete the space.
