Cornwall, New York Kitchen 2nd of 4 photos. In a home built by a well known railroad magnate in the early 20th century, this kitchen was originally chopped up into 3 rooms. The current owners needed a lot of extra refrigeration space and wanted the cabinets to feel at one with the rest of the house. The cabinet details were copied from an original built-in that still exists in an adjoining room and the heart pine floor was replaced to match the flooring throughout the rest of the house. The stainless steel counter and sink were manufactured for the space in one piece, so a big part of planning it involved making sure it would go through the door. A large lot of antique subway tile was sourced for the walls. Wood paneled dish drawers and refrigerators, and metal screen radiator covers help keep the historic feeling. Photo by Michael Gabor

This apartment combination connected upper and lower floors of a TriBeCa loft duplex and retained the fabulous light and view along the Hudson River. In the upper floor, spaces for dining, relaxing and a luxurious master suite were carved out of open space. The lower level of this duplex includes new bedrooms oriented to preserve views of the Hudson River, a sauna, gym and office tucked behind the connecting stair’s volume. We also created a guest apartment with its own private entry, allowing the international family to host visitors while maintaining privacy. All upgrades of services and finishes were completed without disturbing original building details.
