We used a local natural flag stone to create the seating area around the fire pit and the traffic areas to the pool from the existing patio. We also used the chilton stone to build the raised stone waterfall as a focal point for the space. We helped to settle concerns with safety and a diving board by instead installing a jump rock. To keep with the natural/ rustic feel the client craved we built a black bottomed pool.

This project included removal of the structural wall between the kitchen and the dining room, master bathroom remodeling, installation of new hardwood floor throughout, completely changing the living room and fireplace wall and the main staircase. Creating a beautiful, clean, transitional home with open space this two storey gem was transformed from a retro 80's look to a modern euphoria. I designed an octagonal screened space inside a square structure so the material concerns of structure would be outside the pure space of the teahouse. All the connects are exposed as are all the materials - which are natural. The landscape company's designer had specified a gravel path but I knew that would end up a maintenance nightmare along with several of their plants picks. I switched out plants and added a raised, zig zagging walkway. Each run of walkway has a focal point associated with it and the center of the runs is associated with enjoyment of the plantings.
