This homeowner was ready to say goodbye to what they called the “art gallery tunnel” — the long hallway you had to pass through just to reach the kitchen and living room. Their goal was to open up the space and create a larger, more functional kitchen with a full remodel. To start the transformation, we removed the hallway completely, expanding the kitchen and creating a much more open flow. We also squared off and widened the archway entrances, helping the kitchen connect seamlessly with the surrounding living spaces. Before construction began, we carefully de-installed the existing LVP flooring and leveled the entire floor. The flooring had previously been installed over multiple layers of older flooring, which left the surface uneven. Once the remodel was complete, we reinstalled the LVP throughout the home — except for the master bedroom, which received new carpet. This approach also allowed us to reuse the flooring in the newly expanded kitchen areas. The new kitchen design features beautiful perimeter cabinetry that extends around the corner into the dining area, where we created a dedicated appliance wall. A standout feature is the 48-inch-wide appliance garage cabinet, which we customized with floating shelves for both style and functionality. At the center of the space, we installed a large island designed to maximize the slab size and create the perfect gathering place. In the pantry, we built custom wood shelving and installed a new door featuring a customer-supplied stained glass window — a unique and personal touch. We also updated all the lighting in the kitchen, living room, and bathroom to complement the new layout, adding recessed task lighting and pendant fixtures. To complete the transformation, we installed elegant 7-inch crown molding along the high ceilings in the entryway, kitchen, and living room — adding a beautiful finishing detail to the newly opened space. The result is a bright, spacious home with a kitchen designed for both everyday living and entertaining.

This gorgeous pool house addition by Rochman Design Build is the 3rd project for our amazing clients. The Tudor style guest house in light green and rich browns is replete with cool details and hidden gems. From the mirrored backsplash in the kitchenette to the hidden washer-dryer, every detail was approached with care and excitement. Whether enjoying a 4th of July pool party or a Tailgate party on a gorgeous Ann Arbor fall day, this pool house is ready to be enjoyed.

For this couple, planning to move back to their rambler home in Arlington after living overseas for few years, they were ready to get rid of clutter, clean up their grown-up kids’ boxes, and transform their home into their dream home for their golden years. The old home included a box-like 8 feet x 10 feet kitchen, no family room, three small bedrooms and two back to back small bathrooms. The laundry room was located in a small dark space of the unfinished basement. This home is located in a cul-de-sac, on an uphill lot, of a very secluded neighborhood with lots of new homes just being built around them. The couple consulted an architectural firm in past but never were satisfied with the final plans. They approached Michael Nash Custom Kitchens hoping for fresh ideas. The backyard and side yard are wooded and the existing structure was too close to building restriction lines. We developed design plans and applied for special permits to achieve our client’s goals. The remodel includes a family room, sunroom, breakfast area, home office, large master bedroom suite, large walk-in closet, main level laundry room, lots of windows, front porch, back deck, and most important than all an elevator from lower to upper level given them and their close relative a necessary easier access. The new plan added extra dimensions to this rambler on all four sides. Starting from the front, we excavated to allow a first level entrance, storage, and elevator room. Building just above it, is a 12 feet x 30 feet covered porch with a leading brick staircase. A contemporary cedar rail with horizontal stainless steel cable rail system on both the front porch and the back deck sets off this project from any others in area. A new foyer with double frosted stainless-steel door was added which contains the elevator. The garage door was widened and a solid cedar door was installed to compliment the cedar siding. The left side of this rambler was excavated to allow a storage off the garage and extension of one of the old bedrooms to be converted to a large master bedroom suite, master bathroom suite and walk-in closet. We installed matching brick for a seam-less exterior look. The entire house was furnished with new Italian imported highly custom stainless-steel windows and doors. We removed several brick and block structure walls to put doors and floor to ceiling windows. A full walk in shower with barn style frameless glass doors, double vanities covered with selective stone, floor to ceiling porcelain tile make the master bathroom highly accessible. The other two bedrooms were reconfigured with new closets, wider doorways, new wood floors and wider windows. Just outside of the bedroom, a new laundry room closet was a major upgrade. A second HVAC system was added in the attic for all new areas. The back side of the master bedroom was covered with floor to ceiling windows and a door to step into a new deck covered in trex and cable railing. This addition provides a view to wooded area of the home. By excavating and leveling the backyard, we constructed a two story 15’x 40’ addition that provided the tall ceiling for the family room just adjacent to new deck, a breakfast area a few steps away from the remodeled kitchen. Upscale stainless-steel appliances, floor to ceiling white custom cabinetry and quartz counter top, and fun lighting improved this back section of the house with its increased lighting and available work space. Just below this addition, there is extra space for exercise and storage room. This room has a pair of sliding doors allowing more light inside. The right elevation has a trapezoid shape addition with floor to ceiling windows and space used as a sunroom/in-home office. Wide plank wood floors were installed throughout the main level for continuity. The hall bathroom was gutted and expanded to allow a new soaking tub and large vanity. The basement half bathroom was converted to a full bathroom, new flooring and lighting in the entire basement changed the purpose of the basement for entertainment and spending time with grandkids. Off white and soft tone were used inside and out as the color schemes to make this rambler spacious and illuminated. Final grade and landscaping, by adding a few trees, trimming the old cherry and walnut trees in backyard, saddling the yard, and a new concrete driveway and walkway made this home a unique and charming gem in the neighborhood.

This game room kitchenette pairs utility with elevated design. The deep charcoal cabinetry with flat panel fronts adds a modern edge, softened by brushed brass hardware for a touch of warmth and contrast. Needing more space for their growing family, these young homeowners approached us to help them create an updated, larger home from their existing 1953 split-level. On the first floor, walls were removed to create an open concept kitchen and living room. A new dining room addition was constructed in the back, as well as a new tandem 2-car garage. A new second floor addition was created to include 2 bedrooms, a hall bathroom, a master bedroom suite, and a laundry room. On the exterior, a completely new, refreshed and updated look was achieved through the use of new siding, windows and roofing. By more than doubling the size of the existing home, the family is now ready to enjoy all of the space that they need.

There are not many things better than a room full of your favourite people. As you gather you smell dinner cooking in the kitchen and music playing in the background, as joyful conversation and laughter fill the room. I feel so grateful that we are inching our way back to these days. How about you? The project I’m sharing with you today has beautiful moments like these at its heart. Spaces that invite people in, foster connection, and make everyday living so simple that it’s impossible not to enjoy... Meet our Delightful Clients: The family behind this 1950s North Vancouver home transformation enjoy entertaining friends just as much as cosying up to watch a movie together. A professional couple (I'll call them Jon and Anna) with two elementary school-aged sons, Anna and Jon approached us with the task of furnishing the main floor living spaces and the basement of their family home. Anna is a busy lawyer who is now working almost full time from home, and Jon works in the film industry. With full careers, two active boys, and a love of gathering, they craved a home that could support their everyday lifestyle. Design and Lifestyle Goals: Our central goal for this project was simple: to uncover the hidden potential in their home and create a family-friendly space that functioned well and flowed seamlessly. On the main floor, our clients tasked us with creating an area for the family to relax and entertain, along with crafting a work and play space for the boys. They also dreamed of a more functional and bright basement, which they envisioned as a dual purpose family room and home office for Anna. Reveal: Comfortable and Welcoming Entryway & Living Room: Imagine you are coming home, and you walk through a bright, sunny front door like this one. You are met by this entryway of calming earth and sea tones, paired with warm, natural wood flooring. You feel instantly welcomed and eager to venture further inside... The same is now true for our clients! The simple details in their entryway are thoughtfully arranged with clean lines and colourful art as the focal point, achieving a timeless and friendly aesthetic. Dried wheat brings movement into the space and plays up the beauty of nature, while the vibrant yet warm colours and textures evoke feelings of comfort and homecoming. The entry flows seamlessly into this connected living area, which is adorned with ample seating strategically arranged to host and accommodate joyful conversations. With the fireplace and wood mantel as the focal point, these natural elements and hues warm up the room to make it feel beautifully lived-in (not like an untouchable museum). Another colourful work of art graces the space above Jon’s and Anna’s sofa, and we used decorative pillows and a throw blanket to tempt those colours into the rest of the room. A simply styled coffee table keeps the space feeling open and engaged. Reading material, anyone? Just beyond this living area, you get a glimpse of the second space our clients requested on their main floor... A Collected Space for Children to Work + Play: When Jon and Anna realised that their formal dining area wasn’t being used to its full potential, they imagined creating a work and play space for their boys instead. We came up with a plan to create a shared desk area with plentiful storage. This timeless natural wood desk was the perfect way to maximise surface area and give the boys plenty of space to do homework during the school year, or spend time crafting or building LEGOs during the summers. The drawers provide storage for all the wonderful items that fuel their productivity or creativity. Or both. I also love how the white floating shelves display a collection of nostalgic toys, providing just the right amount of childhood endearment to this sophisticated and functional space. This workspace now has endless possibilities for the boys, and it helps Jon and Anna keep their minds and spaces clear, too. Which brings us to... Basement Family Room & Home Office: In general, we knew we had to maximise surface area in this ‘50s home, and this was especially true for our clients’ basement. I’m happy to say that we designed an effortlessly comfortable space that focuses on family and makes it simple to settle in and work… or leave the workday behind. Welcome to this dual-function office and family room. Toward the back of the room, we strategically positioned Anna’s wraparound desk facing out into the room and gave her a wallpaper-and-art backdrop for stunning Zoom calls (she has already received glowing compliments). There is plenty of storage for easy organization including a space to store the family’s shared printer near the door… so they don’t have to interrupt “Mom” to get to it. Anna also wanted the freedom to be able to relax in this space with her family and turn her back on the work day — quite literally! The sofa is perfectly positioned backing onto the desk allowing her to do just that. We relocated an existing mustard yellow chair and used pops of the same colour to integrate it into the overall scheme. The wood armrests on this modular sectional provide surfaces for snacks and drinks where there was no room for an end table. The walnut finish carries the theme of natural comfort from the upstairs spaces down into the family room. The view from the sectional is less business and more pleasure, featuring cosy seating and throw pillows in cheerful colours and patterns. The highlight of this space? A wallpapered accent wall where we were able to achieve the high-end feel of custom built-in shelving with a simple IKEA hack. The shelves and cabinetry around the television offer plenty of much needed storage space to house family games and movies at a budget price point. This fun room is the perfect balance of work and play, accommodating and supporting our clients’ daily family adventures. What Our Clients Had to Say... Our clients, a couple in their 40’s, approached us to remodel their Kitchen, which felt cramped and closed off from the rest of the Main Floor. They felt especially isolated when entertaining guests. They love to cook and entertain, but the lack of space made both of those things difficult for them to do. We removed the walls surrounding the Kitchen, opening it up to the rest of the Main Floor. We expanded the Kitchen across the new open area, allowing for a lot more counter space for preparing and serving food. This also gave room for an enormous island, which is perfect for guests to gather around while entertaining. During the planning stage, it was discovered that beams and posts needed to remain in the space for structural support. Our talented designer, Chantal, was able to incorporate the beams and posts in the design of the Kitchen, so they served a logical purpose, rather than feeling like they were in the way. Featured in the new Kitchen are classic black and white cabinets, complemented by brass fixtures and accents. Ample task and ambient lighting was installed in order to brighten up this new space and allow for better visibility when cooking in the Kitchen. We also installed luxury vinyl flooring throughout the space, which is not only stylish,but incredibly durable. From the beginning of the project, our Clients shared with us their concerns about the project staying within the budget, and the accuracy of the timeline for construction. Ultimately, we were able to ease those concerns, as we finished the renovation on time, and within the allotted budget without compromising on the quality or design wishes of our clients. This mid-century river walkout was an absolute joy to transform for a young dynamic professional couple. They acquired a Rideau River property with a million dollar view and wanted to take advantage of this extraordinary feature. The existing older galley kitchen had seen better days and was an interior space with no view or natural light. Our recommendation? Take advantage of the cathedral ceiling sunroom and open up the kitchen to create a large, open-concept entertaining zone, with a chef’s kitchen. This new, ready-for-anything space would act as the heart of the home with an impactful sense of arrival. Working with an economical budget we provided guidance on space planning, kitchen functionality and total aesthetic. Knowing our clients worked from home a generous amount of time we integrated storage and power solutions dedicated to keeping technology accessible yet out of sight, which resulted in a dramatic floating walnut island as a grounding element. The overall result with a budget-minded approach was a fully customized high-end transitional kitchen that was youthful, bright and cheerful with touches of industrial chic and a good dose of drama to achieve that ‘wow’ factor. Here's what our client had to say about this project which is taken from our review page: All Square has completed Phase 1 of an expected 3 phase whole house renovation of our lake home, and we are beyond thrilled with the results. We were demanding clients – my husband is an engineer by education and a program manager by profession, so he is very detailed, exacting and demanding. We solicited bids from 3 other general contractors before engaging All Square, but Micah Purvis won our confidence that he and his team could make our dream a reality. Micah is a master communicator, clear, detailed and pro-active in his approach to problems. We were very happy with all the All Square employees who worked on our job – Daniel and Austin were great and a pleasure to have around – but most especially Justin Solomon, truly a jack of all trades. If there is something Justin can’t do or a skill he doesn’t possess, we aren’t aware of it. Justin was as reliable as the sun, here first thing every morning, troubleshooting problems, dealing with all the sub-contractors and making invaluable structural and design suggestions that made the finished product all the better. I honestly miss having Justin around and our dogs miss him too! It is obvious that All Square has worked hard to identify and nurture relationships with quality tradesmen and a few of them really stand out for their superior work – Mike (stonemason), Jeremiah Cook (painter) and Michael Stewart (electrician).
