Hovering majestically above the Pacific, this private vacation retreat is pure Maui. Locally sourced lava paired with Hawaiian native plants allows this LEED Silver rated family compound to gracefully nestle into its hillside retreat at the water’s edge. The family’s goal of a place to unwind and spend quality time in the weather of this island paradise is personified through the home’s orientation and design, allowing for natural house ventilation and receipt of the ocean’s cooling air. Not to discount the views to the mountains and hills of the inner-island, the home is topped with a private roof-top terrace nestled into the roof-lines of the home... perfect for daytime vistas of the green rolling hills as well as for stargazing the undisturbed night sky.

"From the very beginning, it was obvious that Kerry Taylor is a creative, calm, solution oriented person who deals with challenges extremely well. His professionalism, knowledge, and work ethic are exemplary and his crew mirrors every one of those qualities. From structural problems that required immediate resolution to working around other contractors (flooring, windows), to everyday cleanup and protection of our surroundings, they did it all. Kerry designed and built special structures to support the cabinet crown moldings that we had purchased and which turned out not to be as we expected. We hadn't decided on everything ahead of time and the necessary resulting change orders were very decently priced and well documented in his invoices and receipts. He came in absolutely on budget and on time because he knows how to efficiently manage a project so that the workflow is smooth. We will absolutely call on him for future projects." ~ Avis D, Client Single bowl sink, double faucets, under cabinet led lighting, TV center, key cabinet, spice rack pull out, toe kick drawer, rollouts, stainless steel hood, pendant, solar tube, appliance garage. Transitional mosaic tile floor, black floor, double-sink and wallpaper bathroom photo in Boston with flat-panel cabinets, medium tone wood cabinets, gray walls, an undermount sink, white countertops and a built-in vanity

The owners of this former one-story ranch house had clipped a newspaper article featuring Morpurgo Architects’ receipt of the coveted State and County Historic Preservation Awards. As they read the article, they knew that they had found the firm with the expertise to turn their ranch into a Dutch Colonial two-story home with sweeping roof lines. It was their family’s opportunity to return to their roots that lie in the early history of the Dutch settlements in Bergen County. We designed renovations that reconfigured and expanded the first floor. The relocated entrance, centered on the new stone masonry front facade that replicates the rope grouting of the 1800’s, opens onto a vestibule that provides access to the new kitchen, dining, living, and family rooms. The new second floor roof sweeps and dormers add interior visual interest to the bedroom and bathroom. Our clients tell us that neighbors frequently stop by to admire their distinctive home, unique among the nearby ranch houses. They feel that they have the best of both worlds, living in a house that has the look of a historic home and includes authentic features such as wide plank floors, square-cut nails, bulls-eye glass, Dutch doors, strap hinges and latches, while enjoying all the modern amenities of today’s homes.
