The space is a harmonious blend of industrial and natural design elements, featuring a bold concrete column that anchors the room and a live-edge wooden bar counter that adds organic character. The herringbone pattern on the wooden floor contrasts with the clean lines of the modern white cabinetry in the background, while the art and vintage record player add a touch of eclecticism. Natural light floods in through the French windows, highlighting the teardrop pendant lights and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

To keep things from feeling too “stuffy” we incorporated a variety of contemporary touches throughout the room such as a record player, the woven shade over the light fixture, and a medicine cabinet filled with pieces picked up via travels. We also choose to flank one of the windows with two large, black and white portraits of her boys. NOTE: not all dining rooms have to be designed alike! Since the Hurts usually eat in the kitchen or dining room, we decided to treat the “dining room” as more of a library/bar.

This sitting room design project involved custom window treatments, fresh paint, furnishings including accent chairs, a coffee table, and record player table, a new rug, artwork, accent pillows, accessories and plants.

Using a banquette against the length of the wall we were able to shift the dining table off center. Space for a record player was a must as well as open display for the large and colourful le crueset collection.

We have been building more cabinets for record players lately. The lower cabinet actually conceals an awkward ledge where the foundation juts into the room. The existing crown and base are incorporated so the unit blends seamlessly into the room.
