A portion of the slope was excavated and planted with low water, low maintenance plants from the Mediterranean regions of the world. A spa was added with an open patio cover for shade, as well as rope lighting at night. The attractive flagstone stairs bring you to the level of entry of the spa, as well as a landing for chairs to sit. The added space allowed chaise lounges to be used poolside.

This Finish is maple with cherry stain and a chocolate glaze. There is rope molding through out the design. The yellow river Granite blends perfectly with the colors of the home and the tumbled travertine backsplash, with the mosaic back over the cooktop, was the perfect amount of rustic to give this kitchen a comfortable elegant feel. We removed a Closet style pantry and added a pullout pantry to give a better flow and more cabinetry for storage. Also soffits above where the cooking area now is were removed to show off the height of the ceilings. An arched walkway was also added to blend better with the architectural style of the home. This was a spectacular change from an old, white cookie cutter kitchen, to a kitchen that truly is an expression of the homeowners style.

The soaring cathedral ceilings and warm exposed beams were the only features to speak of in this non-descript open landing. Off the hallway near the kids’ rooms, its small size and open layout made it something in between a hallway and a room. While most might consider a TV or office nook for this space, its adjacency to the children’s quarters inspired the designer toward something more imaginative. Inspired by the bright open space, this design achieves a sort of Balinese treehouse aesthetic – and all of it is designed specifically for fun. Playful hanging beds swing freely on sisal rope, creating a beckoning space that draws in children and adults alike. The mattresses were filled especially with non-toxic, non-petroleum natural fiber fill to make them healthy to sleep and lounge on – and encased in removable, washable organic cotton slipcovers. As the children are young, the floor space (finished in non-toxic lacquer) is kept clear and available for sprawling play. This was an historic cottage with a small bathroom on the lower level. The existing tile was in good shape, but had a hunter green dot in the floor tile and a green rope tile in the shower. The design plan was to simply re-tile the floor, remove and change out only the deco portion in the shower, repaint the vanity, install a new countertop and replace the faucet and toilet. A black pebble was installed on the shower floor. We also added new black baseboards and crown moulding. Making the renovation cost effective while achieving a dramatic new look. The wall color is Universal Khaki by Sherwin-Williams.

Inspiration for a transitional patio remodel in Los Angeles

Handsome man's bath complete with chunky hanging mirror and tv recessed into the marble wall. Body sprays and handheld in the shower. There used to be a dropped ceiling over the shower which we removed. This completely opened up the space. Elegant, yet masculine.
