The front door to this historic Bernard Maybeck craftsman style home was already planted with Boston Ivy but lacked interest. The narrow bed was planted with Peruvian lily, Chinese fountain grass, Biokova geranium and white yarrow. Cotoneaster spills over the wall and glows with red berries in winter, complementing the smoldering winter foliage of the climbing ivy. Billy Goodnick

To make the "creek-like" pathways more realistic, we use progressively sized stone and small gravel much like you'd see in a creek stream. 1/4-10 gravel is small enough that it looks like river gravel, but is also able to bind together relatively tightly, and still drain well. It also is much less likely to "kick-out" the way Pee-gravel does.

This is a 3D patio design that our design team drew up for a client in Highland, MI containing a charcoal Unilock Hollandstone brick and herringbone pattern with a tan soldier course and steps. As you can see in the construction picture, the client decided to switch the color scheme for the patio to beechwood with a charcoal soldier course.
