Lagoon-side property in the Bel Marin Keys, Novato, CA. Entertaining and enjoying the views were a primary design goal for this project along with replacing the lawn with CA native and low water plants and a total renovation. The project includes a large camaru deck with built-in seating. The concrete steps and pavers lead down to the water's edge. I included a sunken patio on one side and a beautiful Buddha statue on the other, surrounded by succulents and other low-water, contemporary plantings. It can be difficult to renovate the one room in the house where a client feels most at ease but, that is what was needed for my client's Master Suite. I began by replacing the old wall-to-wall carpet with beautiful hardwood floors that are finished with a low-sheen, water-based polyurethane, which was low-odor and cured quickly so that my client could get back into their bedroom sooner. Wall and ceiling colors were updated with fresh and contemporary new tones. Little by little, the room transformed into something new, yet familiar.
