A family den received a complete renovation. The bookcase wallpaper is an unexpected touch. The new pendant light creates the most beautiful shadows on the ceiling. Metallic tea paper was added to the ceiling and adds to the drama of the space. The rug is soft and the sofa is comfortable. It is such a cozy space for lounging and watching TV.

The exterior siding is a reverse board and batten system with varied vertical board widths; a nod to traditional siding methods while giving the cabins a clean modern look. The dark stain chosen for the exterior allows for some of the natural red hues of the fir to come through while also allowing the structures to recede into the trees and shadows.

Montana Timber Products is a custom millwork shop as shown with this application of a vertically installed shiplap milled with a 1/4" reveal. This reveal creates nice shadow lines and a multi-dimensional aesthetic to the finish of this siding.
Wire Brushed and Circle Sawn are Montana Timber Products typical texturizing options. Circle Sawn texture seen on Montana Timber Products natural wood siding is created by large circular saw blades used in more traditional milling practices. Added physical and aesthetic depth to the wood grain is available as the Wire Brushed option.
Greater surface area is added during the texturizing process, allowing Seal-Once, 100% NO VOC waterfproofer to more effectively penetrate the wood.
Seal-Once is guaranteed for ten years from water ingress and is safe for exterior and interior use, pets and children.

The Yellowstone color is the lighter color, vertically installed on the top levels. Yellowstone’s lighter tones of gray — representing weathering through long windswept days — are perhaps one of the most treasured colors utilized from the feel of the old barn pallet.

We really wanted an open design which completely reversed the claustrophobic feel of the old kitchen. The U-shape design is turned 90 degrees from the original kitchen. Now it faces the dining area which nicely blends the bar seating with kitchen table. For parties the kids can use the bar while the adults use the table.
We find having the range on the island allows the cooking to be done in front of guests while providing an abundance of work space and great flow around the island. The challenge in this design is avoiding the range hood blocking the view. We solved this problem by choosing an in-ceiling hood, the Cirrus by Best. This hood required more space in the ceiling than we had so a 6" drop box was made to accommodate the hood height. The box was made the same size as the island and included color LED lighting to provide an accent to the kitchen.
Instead of putting pendants over the island, which we had originally wanted, we installed mini pot lights to ensure the view across the island isn't disrupted. Four mini pot lights compliment the four bar seats and mini pendants were hung by the window over the sink instead.

This modern Moroccan pendant light is a harmonious marriage between traditional craftsmanship and modern design.
The negative space directs all focus to the elaborate design seen at the base of this exquisite pendant lamp. Nur Reversed casts brilliant shadows, making a perfect addition to dining and living spaces. The intricate darj w ktef design is based on 12th century almohad tile work.

My clients purchased a grand home on a spectacular waterfront setting, but the interior felt dark and drab. Our challenge was to turn the existing home into a high end Hampton-style residence without major construction. We choose to focus on color, contrast and texture, changing almost every surface in the home and reversing the contrast to make the home light and airy. We invested the construction expense on elements crucial to style and function. Removing a row of out of scale upper cabinetry in the kitchen and replacing it with 3 double hung windows expands the view to 180 degrees and floods the room with light. To create symmetry and balance in the kitchen, we moved the cooktop and centered the sink. The wine cellar entry opened awkwardly into the kitchen and there was no pantry, so we modified the wine cellar and moved the door for better flow, allowing for a large pantry. On the opposite end of the great room, we balanced the fireplace with cabinetry and tall wainscoting. The floors were stained dark espresso while all other trim and cabinetry went a bright white. It took 14 tries to get the perfect wall color – a pale beige/color reminiscent of sand. The blue and white furniture and details pull the entire space together and creates a sophisticated yet casual feel.
