Red romaine lettuce interplanted between cucumbers (on trellis in back) and eggplants. The lettuces are ready to harvest, 3 weeks after planting. Clients can harvest a few outer leaves from each plant, and stretch the harvest, or cut entire plants.

As a long-time neighbor of CYAN Horticulture, the owner of this small south-facing garden gave us carte blanche on her project, as long as the severely damaged lawn was made to disappear altogether. A relax yet carefully studied meadow-like planting of bulbs and perennials, grasses and evergreen shrubs, now flank a narrow walkway. Maintenance is here kept to a minimum and seasons are wisely felt in this ever-changing arrangement.

This another example of perennials combined with annuals for low light location. Even after the Cimcifuga blooms, the foliage remains to carry our "thriller" component.

See press for 5 page spread in Pasadena Magazine and interviews with the partners. Each gardening project utilizes their background as feng shui masters, as well as Kim's background as an interior designer. The special sauce in our projects are Melinda Joy's extensive and comprehensive approach to gardening which includes her being a medicine woman, cultural anthropologist, and expert in permaculture, sustainable gardening, and herbology.
