Mid-sized trendy master light wood floor and beige floor bedroom photo in San Francisco with gray walls and no fireplace
InDesign / Lori Ludwick
Wallpaper created from a photo of columns at the Jefferson Memorial was installed behind the bed. It adds depth to the small bedroom, and reminds one of their proximity to the national's capital. Tiny side tables with additional pull-out tops, and wall mounted sconces provide space for a book and a glass.

Often, less is more. Take this landscape design composed of climbing roses, hydrangeas, and lilies surrounding a bluestone terrace. This small, suburban garden feels both expansive and intimate. Japanese forest grass softens the edge of the terrace and adds just enough of a modern look to make the garden’s owners, urban transplants, happy. “My husband and I were looking for an outdoor space that had a secret-garden feeling,” says homeowner Anne Lillis-Ruth. “We’ve had fun adding furniture, antique planters, and a stone fountain to [landscape designer] Robert Welsch’s beautiful landscape. The white and green plantings provide the perfect backdrop to my collection of colorful table linens, glassware, and china. We love our garden!”
Dean Fisher loved it, too. “The setting is so lovely and relaxed. It evokes the south of France, with its intimate scale and the integration of house and patio through the use of the vines and other plantings.”
My Romantic Home
I found most of these mirrors at thrift stores and flea markets and painted them all a creamy white. This really brightens up my dark staircase.

Over the years we have developed relationships with many clients but none like this one. Our client, Charlotte, had us collaborate with her on many aspects of her loft space. We started out small with custom bedding and drapery in the bedroom. Soon after that, the project grew to include furniture and textiles in the remaining rooms. We also designed her kitchen with Vesta Chicago as well as her two bathrooms. A window seat was fitted with a luxurious down cushion and pillows, including a very special one with a love bird motif. She wanted the romantic feeling of an old hotel in Paris. A blend of materials, new and reclaimed, were combined to create this wonderful environment.
