A complete primary bathroom remodel in Springfield, Virginia, designed around three priorities our clients came in with: a real walk-in shower, a freestanding tub by the windows, and a proper double vanity with storage that actually worked.
The original layout had everything in the wrong place. The tub sat against an interior wall away from the natural light. A small stall shower took up real estate across the room. The vanity was squeezed into whatever space was left over. Three windows on the back wall were doing nothing for the room because the layout was fighting them. Our solution involved knocking down the dividing wall between the old shower and vanity area, relocating plumbing for both the tub and the new vanities, and placing the freestanding tub directly under the bay of windows so morning light became part of the experience.
Design Approach
We anchored the room around contrast: deep navy cabinetry against soft white walls, warm brushed gold against cool marble tile, sharp Shaker lines against the curved silhouette of the freestanding tub. Navy was the design decision the rest of the room was built around — the clients knew they wanted color but didn't want anything that would feel dated in five years. Navy reads bold without being loud, pairs with virtually any metal finish, and has staying power that trendier choices don't.
We used Fabuwood Galaxy Indigo for the vanities — all-plywood construction with solid wood doors and drawer fronts, soft close throughout. Shaker-style flat panels keep the navy from feeling heavy. The brushed gold (Jeffrey Alexander 635-96SBZ in satin bronze) shows up across hardware, faucets, lighting, the tub filler, and the shower trim, creating a quiet continuity throughout the room.
The Shower
Removing the wall between the old shower and old vanity area created room for a proper walk-in. We tiled the entire shower floor to ceiling in Decovita Calacatta Suave 24x48" porcelain — large format installed in a 50% offset horizontal pattern, with cement board and redgard underneath. The marble-look porcelain gives the visual depth of natural marble without the maintenance.
A built-in shower bench, custom-built into the corner, is wrapped in the same wall tile on the front with a quartz top matching the vanity counter. The shower niche is detailed with MSI Arabescato Carrara 2" honed hex mosaic at the back, the same tile used on the shower floor. All tile edges are finished with Schluter in satin bronze to match the room's metal finishes. The shower door is custom frameless 3/8" tempered glass with a satin bronze pull — no metal frame interrupting the sight line.
The Vanities and Countertops
The new double vanity gives both clients their own space for morning routines. Counter tops are MSI Calacatta Miraggio Cielo quartz with pencil edging and a 4" backsplash — a soft white with subtle gray veining that reads like real Calacatta marble without the porosity issues. Two undermount square porcelain sinks finish the surface cleanly.
The Tub
A 60" freestanding soaker tub sits under the bay of three windows. The floor-mounted tub filler is satin bronze with a handheld sprayer. We relocated the drain and supply lines to make the centered placement work. The tub is the room's quietest feature and its strongest — clients tell us they use this bathroom differently than they used the old one.
Flooring
MSI Sande Ivory 12x24" matte porcelain runs throughout the bathroom floor in a 50% offset pattern parallel to the vanity wall. Cement board underneath, 4" white wood baseboard, Whisper Grey grout that handles daily use without showing wear.
Paint and Lighting
Walls are Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace 2121-70 in satin — a true crisp white that doesn't lean cool or warm. The ceiling uses Benjamin Moore Aura Bath and Spa White, which is formulated to resist mildew in high-humidity spaces. Lighting is layered: three new 6" LED recessed lights on a dimmer, two satin bronze vanity sconces above the mirrors, and the existing three windows providing the daytime ambient light.

Laid six years ago at a house in Farnham this Sandstone tiled kitchen floor was routinely trampled on by two teenagers, gardening parents and two large dogs. All of this had taken its toll of the sealer which had worn off and without its protection the Sandstone tile and grout had turned an indistinguishable sea of brown.
The floor now needed a deep clean and reseal to restore it appearance and get it looking its best for which I had planned should take two days, the first day for cleaning and drying, the second for sealing and quoted accordingly. My client was happy with the quote and we scheduled a date to do the work.
Farnham is a market town in Surrey and is largest town in the borough of Waverley. It is quite a historic town, with many old buildings, including a number of Georgian houses. With good access links to the A3 and London by train its popular with commuters and I often get requests to work here.
I began by taping up the wooden skirting and the plinths in the kitchen to protect them from splashing during the work. Then armed with Tile Doctor Pro-Clean and a stiff brush I set about cleaning up the grout. The dirt released was removed with a wet vacuum before it had a chance to dry then using more Pro-Clean and a 17” buffing machine fitted with a rotating black nylon pad I cleaned the tiles.
The unamused dogs had been banished to the garden. I love dogs but they were chasing my machine around, so I needed to keep them out of the way. The floor tiles were surprisingly dirty, and the client was quite shocked by the amount of dirt I manged to extract.
Once finished I left the floor to dry off fully overnight, sealing a damp floor is never recommended and can result in a patchy appearance.
Returning the next day, I first checked for areas that needed further attention and then took several moisture readings with a damp meter to check the floor was dry. Satisfied that it was, I was ready to apply the sealer.
We had discussed choice of sealer previously and for this floor I had recommended a Tile Doctor sealer called Seal and Go Extra which would be ideal for her traffic heavy floor. Sealing is an important step as it protects the tiles and grout from dirt becoming ingrained in the stone and improves the look of the stone. Seal and Go Extra is also super tough and should last for years if cleaned with the right product. It sets with a subtle sheen but not a shine which she definitely didn’t want. Three coats of sealer were applied which takes around two hours to be dry to the touch but really needs 24 hours for it to cure.
The sealer brought out the variety of colours in the stone floor and the family were happy with their new floor, now they just had to keep the dogs out of the way for 24 hours!
For aftercare I recommended the use of Tile Doctor Neutral Tile Cleaner to keep the floor in great condition.

The family liked having a general dining area as well as a formal dining room but wanted to change up the overall layout while opening up the kitchen.
Design Objectives
• Open up the space to the formal dining room and move the general dining area to be next to the living room
• Give the space an expansive feel
• Create multiple work areas
• Create easy flow/walkways/continuity to allow a family of four to move about freely and complete different tasks in the space
• Make the space adaptable for entertaining
• Bring in more natural light
Design Challenges
• Work around obstacles like the fireplace in the dining room and structural fixtures between the dining room and the kitchen
• Design a plan for a very big area that is proportional with no wasted space
Design Solutions
• A structural engineer was brought in to give options for relocating duct work and building a new header.
• Combining the old kitchen and dining room resulted in a great new space that was very long. This allowed us to create new workspaces across two islands.
• A contrasting color theme (bright perimeter cabinets and dark islands) helped ground the space, making it flow while still feeling intimate and inviting.
The homeowners love their new space and report that the aesthetic and functional changes allow them to do more, both individually and together. As a hub for everything their busy lives entail – from day-to-day routines to a wide range of entertaining arrangements – their wide-open kitchen handles it all while keeping the space and the family connected.

If you’re active on GardenWeb sharing plant photos, asking for advice, tracking seasonal progress you already understand how much detail goes into gardening. Soil pH, rainfall, emerging leaves, bloom counts, fertilizer schedules it adds up fast. But all that rich information often remains buried in posts, lists or memory. What if you could visualize that data and turn it into clear quick insights? That’s where a graph maker becomes a game-changer for your gardening workflow.
1. Why garden data belongs on a graph
On GardenWeb, you’ll find forums for everything from perennial care, vegetable gardening, patios, herbs, even cooking and craft projects. While plant lovers share observations and ask questions, many track progress manually in spreadsheets or memory. A graph maker flips that around:
Instead of a list of numbers (e.g., “Soil test: pH 6.4 in May, 6.1 in October”), you get a line graph showing the decline over time.
Instead of guessing which plant bloomed most, you see a bar chart comparing counts across plants.
Instead of manually calculating average rainfall effect, you plot scatter points of bloom count vs. rainfall.
By turning your data into visuals, you’re not just recording—you’re analysing, learning and improving. For GardenWeb users this means smarter decisions: Which fertilizer actually improves bloom count? Which shady spot recovers slower? A graph maker gives clarity.
2. What is a graph maker and how to use one
A graph maker is a web tool or software that lets you input raw data (numbers, dates, categories) and output visual charts like line graphs, bar charts, scatter plots, etc. It might allow you to import a spreadsheet, select chart type, customize colours, label axes, and export the image for your blog, forum post or personal log.
Here’s how you could apply it for gardening:
Log blooms per week for each rose plant.
Using the graph maker, choose line graph to track changes over weeks.
Label your y-axis “Number of Blooms”, x-axis “Week of Year”.
Add colour lines for each plant for easy comparison.
Export as PNG and embed it in a GardenWeb forum post: “See bloom trend for my ‘Peace’ vs ‘Knock Out’ roses”.
This isn’t just pretty-to-look-at: it makes the trend obvious, invites discussion (“Hey, your ‘Knock Out’ line dips after week 28—what changed?”) and helps you refine your routine.
3. Use these specific scenarios on GardenWeb
A. Soil pH and plant health tracking
After multiple tests you have pH values over time and bloom results. Upload both datasets into the graph maker, produce a dual-axis line graph: soil pH on one axis, bloom count on the other. Post your findings in the “Soil, Fertility & Nutrients” forum and get feedback.
B. Seasonal pest or disease appearance
Record number of aphids spotted each month and whether you used treatment. A bar chart via the graph maker can show pre- and post-treatment figures. Then ask the “Insect & Disease Control” forum for advice based on your visual data.
C. Yield comparison between varieties
You grow two zucchini varieties. You keep weekly yield in pounds. Use the graph maker for a side-by-side bar chart. Share in the “Vegetable Gardening” forum: “Which was better this year? See the chart”.
D. Rainfall vs growth rate
You log weekly rainfall and growth (in cm) of your tomato plants. Use scatter plot in graph maker. If a pattern emerges, you’re ready to post: “Is my growth plateau due to drought? Chart shows a clear correlation.”
4. Why this elevates your GardenWeb contributions
When you post with a chart made by a graph maker, you’re doing more than asking or showing off. You’re investigating. You’re analysing. You invite the community to give feedback on data, not just anecdotes. That elevates the discussion. Instead of “My plant died, any ideas?” you post “See this graph of pH drop and bloom count—what might be the limiting factor?” High-quality visuals raise your post’s value and garner more thoughtful responses.
Plus, your posts become useful references for others: someone else can say, “Cool graphic, can you share your data sheet?” You build credibility and help the forum become a learning hub—not just a Q&A board.
5. Tips for using a graph maker effectively in the GardenWeb context
Keep it simple: One chart, one insight. Don’t overcrowd.
Label clearly: Titles, axis labels, units (e.g., cm/week, mg/L, °F).
Use readable colours: Avoid faint tones that vanish on mobile.
Annotate when needed: Add notes like “Fertiliser switched week 12” or “Shade cloth added”.
Provide context in your post: Don’t leave the chart alone—write a few sentences explaining what it shows and what you’re seeking.
Embed carefully: Make sure your image displays properly in GardenWeb; check mobile view.
Share raw data: If possible link to your spreadsheet so others can replicate or comment.
Be open to feedback: The chart invites questions; embrace them.
6. Possible pitfalls and how to avoid them
Bad data = bad chart: If your measurements aren’t consistent, your graph will mislead. Use standardized data collection.
Too much complexity: Multi-axis charts, too many variables—confusing. Stick to one or two variables.
Overlooking mobile viewers: Many GardenWeb users browse via phones. Use large fonts and simple visuals.
Ignoring the narrative: Chart alone won’t answer. Explain what it means and what you need.
Outdated charts: If you update your data annually, keep your visuals current or label them clearly as “2024 data”.
7. Final thoughts
On GardenWeb you’ll find a vibrant community of gardeners, DIYers, cooks and design lovers.Using a graph maker for your posts and progress turns your experience from casual hobby-logging into smart data-driven gardening. You’ll not only learn more—your peers will learn more, too.
So next time you log your plant growth, record your yield, test your soil or track pests—don’t just note it. Plot it. Use a graph maker. Share it in the forum. Let your garden tell the story, and let the community help you write the next chapter.

Custom Barrier-Free Bathroom Remodel
We recently had the honor of remodeling this bathroom for a local veteran to make his daily routine easier and more comfortable. The main goal was to transform a standard bathroom into a fully handicap-accessible space. We designed a custom, curbless walk-in shower that allows a wheelchair to roll right in without any bumps or barriers in the way. By removing the old tub and door, we opened up the entire room, giving him the freedom and independence he deserves.
The design isn't just functional—it’s beautiful. We used large-format marble tiles on the walls and a slip-resistant pebble floor in the shower for a natural, high-end look. To make sure it was safe, we installed sturdy, modern grab bars and custom recessed niches to keep soap and shampoo within easy reach. We even added a sleek linear drain and a rain shower head to give it that luxury spa feel.
Whether you are looking to make your home more accessible for a loved one or you just want to upgrade to a modern, open-concept shower, we are here to help. We take pride in our custom work and love finding solutions that make life better for our customers. Give us a call today, and let’s talk about how we can build a custom bathroom that fits your specific needs!

Truly the heart of the home, the high-end kitchen incorporates the latest trends in custom residential design, showcasing a massive central kitchen island with seating on two sides and picturesque views from the kitchen sink looking out into the backyard. Boosting day-to-day efficiency and layout flow, the floor plan features a highly innovative, oversized combined pantry and laundry room zone for seamless home organization. The main level's open-concept great room is anchored by a show-stopping, two-story stacked tile fireplace that draws the eye upward and creates a powerful, texturized focal point. This dramatic living area flows gracefully toward an architectural custom staircase, where striking metal railing serves as a sophisticated, modern design element.
The thoughtful layout continues across both levels to accommodate a bustling family lifestyle with effortless function. Upstairs, the secondary bedrooms are anchored by a highly practical Jack-and-Jill bathroom layout, ensuring morning routines run smoothly and on time for the entire family. Secluded from the rest of the residence, the luxurious primary owner's retreat serves as a private, main-level sanctuary. The suite features an enhanced owner's bath beautifully appointed with premium, modern champagne fixtures and dual vanities, creating a spa-like retreat designed for ultimate relaxation and a quiet escape at the end of the day.

Beautiful spec home build that boasts an open floor plan design. The designer worked with blue color pallet as inspiration throughout this home project. The master bath in this home was designed to give a spa like escape to the lady of the home. A free standing tub was used in the master in place of a drop in tub. The family room has a beautiful stone fireplace with bookcases to give the room a beautiful room feeling. The fireplace wall was also given a unique look to draw the eye to that wall as a focal point in the room. A drop zone was added into the laundry area just inside the garage entrance which has both benches as well as cubbies for the homeowners to be able to drop items when returning from activities during their daily routines.

A basement tailor-made for entertaining, working out, unwinding, wellness and the whole family.
These homeowners take the mantra “exercise is a great form of self-care” to heart. A remodel brought them additional space for maintaining and building their exercise and physical health routines. While their 1952 St. Louis Park home is traditional, they decided to have fun with the aesthetics in the multi-function space in the basement. This newly remodeled space is retro-modern, and funky! The colors, designs, and layout inspire a positive attitude and an upbeat mood. Included in the space are areas for recreation, exercise, and relaxation. They created a dedicated space for, not only enjoying the company of others, but where every family member can take care of themselves!
