Aronia is a superberry. Extremely high in antioxidants. sweet yet puckering. Astringent better describes the mouth-feel. It grows to 8 feet and there are a few compact forms to 5 feet. Grapes are one of the easiest fruits to grow in the NW because they require little interventions. the sweetness can be over 25%. Raisin making is typical for many of our smaller champagne type fruits. With little summer pruning and fertility the grape varieties suitable for the NW number in the dozens. The seedless table grapes are most popular but the wine grape such as Siegerrebe or Madeline Angevine are excellent choices for the home vintner. Photo by Gil Schieber

The cranberry is a groundcover that remains evergreen and does NOT require a lot of water. In fact it is drought tolerant and easily provides and abundance of fruit in 3 to 5 years. There are several varieties to choose from and the difference is not notable in the appearance of the plant but the flavor and texture do vary. The Amber Autumn Olive. Grows just like the red fruited Eleagnus. A super berry, very hign in Lycopene-the same super antioxidant that is in tomatoes. Full sun is best but it can still produce and grow perfectly in shadey conditions. Inspiration for a large contemporary open concept family room remodel in Austin with gray walls

Originally, the exterior of the Napa ranch residence was a standard knocked down stucco finish. We covered over the entire exterior of the house with a natural plaster product that has been made in Italy for centuries, known as Rialto or Vero. This product is a combination of slaked lime mixed with 60% reconstituted crushed marble dust. Quarried from the legendary Carrara marble mines. The finish itself is a vertically combed striated texture embedded into the plaster. While it cures, a transparent group of patinas are applied to the stone-like plaster substance to create a look of an aged villa.
