Bedrooms are one of my favorite rooms in the home, a bedroom must be comfortable and serene. I design master bedrooms as a private retreat for my clients. Elements of a great bedroom include: -Foundation: Don’t underestimate the power of a great night’s sleep. Your matress is the most important element in the room. We have some tips below from Chicago Luxury Beds about how to select the right mattress for you. You’ll have to come by and see it for yourself, stay tuned for the opening in March. -Fabulous Sheets: I love Pratesi, they make the softest most luxurious bedding in the marketplace. -Bedding Toppers: Accent pillows, cashmere blankets or a colorful throw will pull your entire room together. -Create a Focal Point: Use a great wallcovering, window treatment, piece of art or fireplace. -Mix and Match Furniture: Bedroom sets are a thing of the past. I love creating full dressing rooms for my clients and keeping furniture within the bedroom suite more decorative. Don’t be afraid to mix and match to create an eclectic vibe. Upholstered headboards are still a strong trend and allow for a personal touch by mixing shapes, custom fabrics and trimmings. -Window Treatments: Don’t skimp on window treatments. Decorative panels add softness to the room while shades should be black-out lined to guarantee a good night’s rest. -Lighting: I believe there should be a combination of ambient and task lighting in the bedroom. A great chandelier should always be on a dimmer. Bedside lamps or sconces should be on dimmers as well but should be bright enough to read by. Don’t forget lighting should be flattering, we all want to look our best, don’t we? Making small spaces count. In this tiny Guest Bathroom, Interior Designer Rebecca Robeson works magic with her selections of fixtures, finishes and hardware to visually enlarge the room. Selecting magnificent white marble pieces, laser cut in an oval shape and placed horizontally, Rebecca chose grey grout to surround each piece, giving it an embedded look. Carrying the feature wall from the toilet on into the back wall of the shower, this once tiny bathroom (painted red) gets a new lease on life! Rebecca’s creative solution to the lack of usable surface space was to design a custom ceiling mounted shelving unit above the toilet. Shown here, it's used for well-appointed accessory pieces but when necessary, can also serve the functional needs of guests for makeup bags, shaving kits, perfume and toiletries. It is also a hardwood that will last generations and allow our craftsmen to carve solid wood pyramid panels that will not easily deteriorate over the decades. These custom-made Mediterranean garage doors were quite the project and the home's architecture was the perfect backdrop that framed in beautifully. The beautiful built-in garage door arches matched the home's garage openings perfectly making our garage doors a natural fit that didn't compete with the home's curb appeal but created a stunning curb appeal that made the home stand out beautifully against the other in the neighborhood. Mid-sized trendy light wood floor kitchen/dining room combo photo in Orange County with white walls

Low-maintenance siding, a front-entry garage and architectural details make this narrow lot charmer perfect for beginning families and empty-nesters. An abundance of windows and open floor plan flood this home with light. Custom-styled features include a plant shelf, fireplace, two-story ceiling, kitchen pass-thru and French doors leading to a porch.

This project required the renovation of the Master Bedroom area of a Westchester County country house. Previously other areas of the house had been renovated by our client but she had saved the best for last. We reimagined and delineated five separate areas for the Master Suite from what before had been a more open floor plan: an Entry Hall; Master Closet; Master Bath; Study and Master Bedroom. We clarified the flow between these rooms and unified them with the rest of the house by using common details such as rift white oak floors; blackened Emtek hardware; and french doors to let light bleed through all of the spaces. We selected a vein cut travertine for the Master Bathroom floor that looked a lot like the rift white oak flooring elsewhere in the space so this carried the motif of the floor material into the Master Bathroom as well. Our client took the lead on selection of all the furniture, bath fixtures and lighting so we owe her no small praise for not only carrying the design through to the smallest details but coordinating the work of the contractors as well.

Home office - transitional home office idea in Dallas

The 7,600 square-foot residence was designed for large, memorable gatherings of family and friends at the lake, as well as creating private spaces for smaller family gatherings. Keeping in dialogue with the surrounding site, a palette of natural materials and finishes was selected to provide a classic backdrop for all activities, bringing importance to the adjoining environment. In optimizing the views of the lake and developing a strategy to maximize natural ventilation, an ideal, open-concept living scheme was implemented. The kitchen, dining room, living room and screened porch are connected, allowing for the large family gatherings to take place inside, should the weather not cooperate. Two main level master suites remain private from the rest of the program; yet provide a complete sense of incorporation. Bringing the natural finishes to the interior of the residence, provided the opportunity for unique focal points that complement the stunning stone fireplace and timber trusses.
