THE SETUP
Upon moving to Glen Ellyn, the homeowners were eager to infuse their new residence with a style that resonated with their modern aesthetic sensibilities. The primary bathroom, while spacious and structurally impressive with its dramatic high ceilings, presented a dated, overly traditional appearance that clashed with their vision.
Design objectives:
Transform the space into a serene, modern spa-like sanctuary.
Integrate a palette of deep, earthy tones to create a rich, enveloping ambiance.
Employ a blend of organic and natural textures to foster a connection with nature.
THE REMODEL
Design challenges:
Take full advantage of the vaulted ceiling
Source unique marble that is more grounding than fanciful
Design minimal, modern cabinetry with a natural, organic finish
Offer a unique lighting plan to create a sexy, Zen vibe
Design solutions:
To highlight the vaulted ceiling, we extended the shower tile to the ceiling and added a skylight to bathe the area in natural light.
Sourced unique marble with raw, chiseled edges that provide a tactile, earthy element.
Our custom-designed cabinetry in a minimal, modern style features a natural finish, complementing the organic theme.
A truly creative layered lighting strategy dials in the perfect Zen-like atmosphere. The wavy protruding wall tile lights triggered our inspiration but came with an unintended harsh direct-light effect so we sourced a solution: bespoke diffusers measured and cut for the top and bottom of each tile light gap.
THE RENEWED SPACE
The homeowners dreamed of a tranquil, luxurious retreat that embraced natural materials and a captivating color scheme. Our collaborative effort brought this vision to life, creating a bathroom that not only meets the clients’ functional needs but also serves as a daily sanctuary. The carefully chosen materials and lighting design enable the space to shift its character with the changing light of day.
“Trust the process and it will all come together,” the home owners shared. “Sometimes we just stand here and think, ‘Wow, this is lovely!'”

Room Redefined is a full-service home organization and design consultation firm. We offer move management to help with all stages of move prep to post-move set-up. In this case, once we moved the homeowners into their beautiful custom home, we worked intimately with them to understand how they needed each space to function, and to customize solutions that met their goals. As a part of our process, we helped with sorting and purging of items they did not want in their new home, selling, donating, or recycling the removed items. We then engaged in space planning, product selection and product purchasing. We handled all installation of the products we recommended, and continue to work with this family today to help maintain their space as they go through transitions as a family. We have been honored to work with additional members of their family and now their mountain home in Frisco, Colorado.

This basement renovation project in Harvard, Massachusetts showcases a complete transformation from an unfinished, underutilized space into a modern, fully functional living area. The project began with a raw basement featuring exposed concrete walls, outdated mechanical systems, and minimal lighting. Through a structured renovation process, the space was reimagined into a high-end finished basement designed for comfort, functionality, and long-term value.
The initial phase involved thorough site preparation, including debris removal, cleaning, and reorganization of existing utilities. From there, the framing stage established a new layout, allowing for defined spaces while maintaining an open-concept feel. Electrical upgrades were implemented, including new wiring, outlets, and energy-efficient recessed LED lighting to create a bright and welcoming environment.
Insulation and drywall installation followed, significantly improving energy efficiency and overall comfort. The walls were finished with a smooth, modern texture and painted in soft neutral tones to maximize light reflection and create a clean aesthetic. The ceiling was carefully finished with recessed lighting, providing even illumination throughout the space while maintaining a sleek appearance.
The flooring installation featured durable luxury vinyl plank, chosen for its water resistance, longevity, and high-end look. This material adds warmth to the space while remaining practical for basement conditions. Trim work, including baseboards and detailed finishing touches, enhanced the overall craftsmanship and gave the space a polished, cohesive feel.
In the final stage, the basement was styled into a modern living area, complete with a comfortable seating arrangement, entertainment setup, and minimal yet elegant décor. The layout was designed to be versatile, allowing homeowners to use the space as a family room, media room, or additional living area.
This Harvard basement renovation highlights the importance of thoughtful planning, quality materials, and skilled execution. The result is a functional, beautiful space that not only enhances daily living but also adds significant value to the home. Projects like this demonstrate how a previously unused basement can become one of the most valuable and enjoyable areas in a house.

Calming and Warm, this Traditional Grand Island Bathroom remodel is a really relaxing space. Bright Cherry cabinets are complimented perfectly by a creamy beige shower tile. Dark Accents in the shower bring back the wood trim throughout the bathroom. This custom shower features a dual control setup that can delicately change the pressure and temperature to suit your needs.
Using an acrylic pan in the shower base makes the install process a little easier, but you can still customize with a built in tile shower seat. This shower even features a custom built niche box to help fit the narrow shower space. No matter the size of your space, you can design a bathroom to suit your style and needs!

Designed by Carolina Maholik of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Chantilly, VA, this multi bathroom remodeling project features a traditional style inspired design across five bathrooms. Each bathroom features Greenfield Cabinetry vanity cabinets in the door style Jackson Inset in the Gardenia finish, paired with Silestone countertops in Eternal Calacatta Gold in Suede.
“The home is as beautiful as the owners. They had existing Greenfield cabinetry throughout the home that set us up for a beautiful flow into the primary suite,” said Carolina.
“The primary bathroom was transformed with a beautiful cabinet layout for dual use as well as custom details for full function of their daily routines. The natural light with the neutral white allowed us to help the space beam in beauty. The other bathrooms followed suit with more traditional setups for ease of use in each individual’s space. The clients were amazingly patient and kind throughout the process and a joy to work with.”
Added the client, “My Reico team was priceless to our success, managing everything professionally to finish the project. I love the clean, updated look of all the bathrooms.”

We entered into our Primrose project knowing that we would be working closely with the homeowners to rethink their family’s home in a way unique to them. They definitely knew that they wanted to open up the space as much as possible.
This renovation design begun in the entrance by eliminating most of the hallway wall, and replacing the stair baluster with glass to further open up the space. Not much was changed in ways of layout. The kitchen now opens up to the outdoor cooking area with bifold doors which makes for great flow when entertaining. The outdoor area has a beautiful smoker, along with the bbq and fridge. This will make for some fun summer evenings for this family while they enjoy their new pool.
For the actual kitchen, our clients chose to go with Dekton for the countertops. What is Dekton? Dekton employs a high tech process which represents an accelerated version of the metamorphic change that natural stone undergoes when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years. It is a crazy cool material to use. It is resistant to heat, fire, abrasions, scratches, stains and freezing. Because of these features, it really is the ideal material for kitchens.
Above the garage, the homeowners wanted to add a more relaxed family room. This room was a basic addition, above the garage, so it didn’t change the square footage of the home, but definitely added a good amount of space.
For the exterior of the home, they refreshed the paint and trimmings with new paint, and completely new landscaping for both the front and back. We added a pool to the spacious backyard, that is flanked with one side natural grass and the other, turf. As you can see, this backyard has many areas for enjoying and entertaining.

This gorgeous custom home bar and wine cellar combination resides in sunny Costa Mesa, Orange County, California. The beauty and uniqueness of this project reminds us of a restaurant - sleek and clean, and dressed to the nines with one of a kind display features.
The wine cellar holds over 500 bottles horizontally in triple deep black metal wine racking from floor to ceiling. Coupled with the clean lines of a dark stainless steel and glass enclosure makes a truly stunning addition to this home and entertainment area.
Small glass wine cellar design can be tricky. The design build team at Vintage Cellars ensures to work closely with all of its clients to bring their dreams to reality, all the while bringing our thoughts and ideas to the table to maximize storage capacity, design features, and expert construction understanding.
The wine cellar cooling system in this wine vault / wine room / wine cellar is ducted into the space. Recessing the cooling unit allows for maximizing the space for wine bottle storage, as well as removing a potentially large eye sore.
We love this space for its highly refined look. The combination of dark wood, dark metal, and glass in the wine cellar - the natural wood flooring and ceiling accents, the simple and elegant custom bar and custom lighting - it all comes together beautifully and naturally in a way that makes us just say - WOW!

The "Before" view of the grand great room built-ins. The original setup featured dated oak-grain finishes and plain cabinet doors. We saw the incredible potential to reface the unit with modern Shaker doors, upgrade to premium brass hardware, and introduce a vibrant teal accent backing to perfectly highlight the artist client's books and custom decor.

Collaboration of nature and modern home design
Often when motivations point to a more modern interior space, the direction of materials and furnishings leans to hard lines, harsh juxtaposition of cold finishes and a level of simplicity that can feel sterile. When broad horizons, airy space and modern inclinations was on this client’s wish list, we dug in on nailing the right overall schematic flow, affording opportunity for natural textures and selections in a warmer, neutral palette to collaborate in order to develop harmonious ambiance and depth. Notable project highlights were efforts to open up and carve out a chef’s kitchen with modern appliances, bold wooden & quartz-clad bar for gatherings, an extra guest bedroom off the entry that could double as a hide-away video game room, and a master suite with a more suitable layout for work at home office setup, optimized waterfront view potential, and fresh bathroom aesthetics.
Maximizing the architectural potential
Broad glass sliders, floor-to-ceiling fixed pane windows in a dark bronze metal finish and a magnificent custom mahogany front door added great architectural features to this formerly mostly characterless home. Appointing the right wall coverings and solid surface materials furthered the goals of flow, serenity and balance. Achieving a beautiful symbiosis of rich darks and soft lights, coastal-inspired textures in the furnishings – everything from the bleached wood-look tile floors to the thin bamboo burnout-pattern window treatments – work towards a multi-layered, coastal contemporary vibe inspired by the home’s natural surroundings that the client loved.
This client trusted the process; let us run with our vision for something completely unique and landed with an amazing turn-key project that exceeded all expectations, particularly with COVID and a hurricane taking out bridge access to the property. A primary residence sure – but we definitely also created a getaway in it’s own right. We love the transformation and know this home’s value increased substantially by the time we were done!

We recently deep cleaned two different tiled floors at a property in the village of Coningsby in the centre of Lincolnshire. The floor was split into two areas one laid with natural Sandstone and the other Riven Slate tiles. Both tiled areas had been sealed previously but the sealer was clearly not doing the job as the floor had a very dull finish due to dirt being absorbed into the tile.
The floors were in need of a deep clean to remove the ingrained dirt and remaining sealer so the first step was to soak the tiles in a strong dilution of Tile Doctor Pro-Clean and then work it in using a rotary machine fitted with a black pad and a stiff brush along the grout lines. This did the job and there’s a great photograph below that shows the difference this made.
To extract the now soiled cleaning solution the floor was rinsed using water which was then extracted using our wet pick up system. Once the floor was clear we were able to see where more work was required and the process was repeated until we were happy the floor was thoroughly clean and free of any remaining sealer.
To get the floor dry a number of turbo air dryers were setup around the floor and we left for the day to allow the floor to thoroughly dry off overnight.
The following morning we tested the tiles to make sure that both were dry which they were. We then applied Tile Doctor quality sealers to both floors; two different finishes were required for the different types of floor so we applied three coats of Colour Grow sealer to the Sandstone flooring as this impregnates the pores in the stone protecting it from staining and enhancing the natural colours to provide a natural look. We than applied four coats of Seal and Go sealer to the Slate floor, Seal and Go adds a nice subtle shine and works well on Riven Slate to highlight the different shades.
The customer was delighted with the results and left an excellent review which you can read below:
The floors look absolutely beautiful. I am very pleased with the service.
J. Gibbons, Coningsby
She wants us to return soon to seal the other stone areas in their property. As you can see from the photos the before and after is very striking. The floors were ready to take light use that same afternoon.

This room just draws in the little ones... using floating shelves to store books for easy access, and wire bins that can sit on the floor or hang on the wall to make toys easily seen, kids of all ages can enjoy this space and pick it up when finished with play time!

Weathered Antique Flooring, Paneling, and Timbers come together in this rustic cabin kitchen, layering reclaimed wood from the floor to the ceiling for a warm, cohesive feel that fits perfectly against the forest views beyond the windows. Each element carries the same honey and reddish brown tones and natural patina that only comes from decades of aging, tying the entire space together.
Sourced directly from a 19th or early 20th century barn, this Weathered Antique wood retains its unique sawn faces and naturally aged character even after more than a hundred years. At Manomin Resawn Timbers, every plank, panel, and timber goes through a detailed process of denailing, kiln drying, and precision milling, preserving that antique charm while preparing the wood for a beautiful, functional place in a modern home.
Whether you are a homebuilder, a home remodeling contractor, or a homeowner looking to bring reclaimed wood flooring, paneling, or timbers into a kitchen or any living space, Manomin Resawn Timbers has been helping people discover the antique charm of reclaimed wood since 2002.
