The perimeter cabinets are Merillat Autograph in the Bayard door style in Warm White, while the island features Masterpiece cabinetry in the Bolton door style in Rainfall. The kitchen also includes MSI Q Calacatta Laza countertops, 8x8 Angela Harris Florista Leave backsplash tile from Tile Inc. and KitchenAid range with downdraft, dishwasher and refrigerator. The client shared, “My experience with Reico was very pleasant from the start. Nancy was proficient and knowledgeable. Her timeline went as planned, and she presented several design options while adjusting to my preferences. Her attention to detail paid off—she found the perfect backsplash to complement my kitchen and home. Nancy also communicated well with my contractor. The project went smoothly, and now I have a more efficient kitchen that has become the focal point of my home. Erin Bucia from Reico Kitchen and Bath in Springfield, VA, created a transitional-style inspired kitchen design featuring Merillat Autograph cabinets in the door style Bayard. The wall cabinets are in Dove White, while the base cabinets are in Evergreen. The kitchen also includes Calacatta Viraldi quartz countertops, KitchenAid appliances and a full height Daltile Mesmirist Allure MM33 3x12 backsplash. The client shared their experience: “While I love everything about my kitchen, the green tile backsplash is especially stunning. Erin suggested adding an extra cabinet for my baking supplies, which I really appreciate. The corner cabinets meet my specific needs. I couldn’t have done this without Erin’s help.” Erin commented, “The biggest challenge was providing enough storage for the client's baking and cooking supplies while still staying within budget. If you are looking for twice your normal bath experience, look no more. This master bath has plenty of room for two with double the storage, double the mirrors, sinks and faucets, and bathing is done two-way. The colors are warm and inviting, but it’s the subtle patterning that caught my eye. The overall effect is of a soft wash, yet on closer examination, the striations travel across the walls and criss-cross on the floor. This expansive vanity was created with our homeowner’s needs in mind. Each “side” has a bank of drawers and under sink cabinet storage. A large undermount sink dips below the gorgeous stone counter top. Gently arching faucets in brushed nickel adorn each sink with a framed mirror above for reflection. Individual task lighting shine upon each sink and is reflected back into the room. For additional storage and to keep elbows from connecting, a large shared bank of drawers separate the two areas. The vanities are rich with color and texture, from the swirling grain of the wood, to the raised panels and beading. The subtle beading is repeated on the drawers for a custom look. Our wood color is a deeper, more intense tone of the colors in our tiling. Whether in a hurry or needing to relax and unwind, this bath can do both. Despite having two substantial pieces in the same area, the open glass panel that separate leaves each feeling open and airy. This tub was made for soaking. The sides and back gently mold into arm and neck support for a truly relaxing experience. The lineal movement in the tile backsplash lend a long and lean feeling. For easy reach, toiletries are stored in a niche with accent multicolored mosaics. On the other side of the half wall a roomy shower awaits. The long tiles were installed in a brick pattern with striations of color wrapping the walls. The oversized tiles reduce the amount of grout, for a cleaner look. Here too we added a niche for maximum storage and a sprinkle more of the accenting mosaic. We capped the half wall and the generous bench with our vanity’s stone for a rich contrast. We installed the tile up to the ceiling, which adds to the visual height of the room. We went with clean simple controls and showerhead, enhanced in a brushed nickel finish. So as to not obscure the view, we went frameless on our shower door and panels, using brushed nickel hinges and a simple handle. At the end of our vanity, a half wall adds backsplash on the vanity side and a bit of privacy on the other. A simple toilet in crisp white is out of sight but functional in its own “alcove”. Despite all the patterning, there is nothing busy about the room. For the floor we decided to change things up, using a large square version of the wall tiles. To keep the room from feeling too long, we installed them on the diagonal and then criss-crossed the lines for a dramatic look. Another lovely, nature-inspired organic form, the Corelia is made for total neck-deep immersion even for tall bathers. The gracefully curved ends flare out to a sizeable 66.5” (163.5 cm) length at the rim, which coupled with the 15.25” (40 cm) interior depth to overflow drain provide room a-plenty for a single self-indulgent soak or delightful shared bathing experience.

What once felt dark, segmented, and inefficient is now a bright, connected, and highly functional first floor designed for real family living. Our clients, Terry and Lou, came to us with a home that simply wasn’t keeping up with their growing family. The kitchen was cramped, with tight working lanes and limited light. The laundry room doubled as a powder room—yet functioned poorly as both. Sightlines between spaces were cut off, making it difficult to stay connected to their young children throughout the day. Across the board, the home felt dated and disconnected. Through thoughtful planning and strategic structural changes, we reimagined the entire first floor to better support how this family truly lives. We began by redefining the entry experience—creating a true foyer complete with a dedicated drop zone and custom cubby storage. This space now acts as a natural landing point, bringing order and intention to everyday comings and goings. Adjacent to the new entry, we relocated and redesigned the laundry room. Now positioned exactly where it needs to be, it functions as a hardworking utility space with countertops for folding, a utility sink for immediate stain treatment, and the ability to be closed off—keeping daily life contained when needed. Separating the previous shared function allowed us to carve out a distinct, personality-filled powder room. Wrapped in a bold wave-patterned wallpaper and grounded by a custom reeded oak vanity with warm brass accents, this space delivers a moment of delight and individuality within the home. The kitchen transformation is where the impact is felt most deeply. What was once a dark, restrictive layout has been opened into a spacious, highly efficient U-shaped kitchen with generous clearances and an oversized island for gathering. A thoughtful mix of painted cabinetry and rift white oak introduces warmth and balance, while the custom reeded hood becomes a sculptural focal point. Open shelving, integrated pantry storage, and layered lighting ensure the space is as functional as it is beautiful. Beyond aesthetics, the redesign prioritizes flow—both in movement and in connection. Sightlines between the kitchen, dining, and living areas were intentionally opened, allowing for ease of interaction and visibility throughout the main living spaces. To unify the home, existing hardwood floors were refinished and extended, creating continuity and a seamless visual experience from one space to the next. The result is a home that feels lighter, more open, and deeply aligned with how this family lives day to day—designed not just to look beautiful, but to support everything from busy mornings to slow, shared evenings.
