Our clients were an energetic and outgoing couple that loved life, laughter and their family including two well-loved Dachshund dogs. Their home on a lushly treed cul de sac in Manor Park boasts plenty of character, with pockets of rooms devoted to their artistic and musical passions. As a trained chef, the husband proudly and naturally commanded the lions share of the kitchen, leaving little room for his wife’s love of baking and crafting. Fine food, good wine and a myriad of guitars are at the root of their impromptu and casual gatherings. The original design request was to update the kitchen in functionality and appearance. With one look at the adjacent space which was not visible to the kitchen but commanded a stunning view with south facing windows - and this project morphed into combining two separate spaces into one. We opened up the kitchen to incorporate the sunroom and create one large open concept sun-filled happy space with direct access to the rear yard and seating areas. The kitchen was designed to act as one space with clearly delineated zones, where each person could cook autonomously while being together. Additionally, we maintained a soft seating lounge area and a desk for crafting in natural light. At the heart of the kitchen is a 6’ x 8’ solid black cherry island which serves as the social hub for gatherings. We used different materials and textures in each zone to clearly represent the two uniquely individual and dynamic personalities of this couple. A black and white glass mosaic tile backsplash speaks to the glass fused hobby that is created in the same space while creating a dramatic statement of a playful artistic expression. The custom designed wine niches introduce abstract rectilinear forms. The use of rich materials, two-toned cabinets, custom floating black cherry shelving and a classic colour palette of black and white act as a backdrop or canvas, which intentionally allows room for each personal expression to shine. We doubled the storage capacity within the kitchen which is still discreet and still allows for an abundance of glass front interior lit cabinets to showcase their treasured collections.

We first created a small kitchenette with all major components within easy reach, then a small but wide open laundry area. Finally we developed this tremendous craft and entertainment area for our incredible young lady to share her hobbies and passions with her visitors. The navy blue cabinets really add a punch of color to the rustic oak cabinets, while in the kitchen, the aluminum doors up top bring in a sense of modern. The centerpiece of the craft room is the Richelieu party table that unfolds out to almost 6 feet in length, or can be completely stowed away in the drawer space of the cabinet. We were thrilled to be able to create such a beautiful space for a beautiful lady!

A Master Bedroom washed with sunlight and tranquil color Establishing a serene gray and aqua color palette, the Master Bedroom serves as a family oasis, where our clients can share both alone time with each other and snuggle/reading time with their children. We created a seating zone flanked by a unique collage wall that documents the client’s connection to family and passion for travel. A treasured antique radio purchased by the man of the house perches on a pair of nesting tables and offers that Vintage flair that punctuates the entire home.

Alair Homes Georgian Bay completely updated this mid-century beach with new wood floors, and a modern open floor plan that continues throughout the living room to the kitchen/dining area. The kitchen layout and design has been completely changed and now features custom dark blue shaker cabinets, white subway tile backsplash, Cambria counter tops and a custom wood top island to add a more rustic feel, accompanied by high end stainless steel appliances and a gas stove top with down draft vent. As with most renovations, removal of walls, electrical and plumbing all had to be considered and dealt with to achieve the new layout. The homeowners are avid cooks and this new space allows them to explore their culinary passions and share and entertain with all of their friends and family.

This bedroom belonged to one of our clients' three daughters who now owns a Chicago clothing boutique and shares her mother’s love for sparkle and shine. We channeled that passion into an elegant suite that will work for either grandsons or granddaughters and their parents. We started with a color palette of plums, champagne, ivory and taupe. The Treehouse is the home I share with my daughter Miss Noa. It is our sanctuary and our refuge, our playhouse and our house of rest. It is carved out of the roof of a 100 year old craftsman home, so the spaces are all unique, and intimate, which I love. The colors I chose for the space are all slightly weathered as though they spent years in the sun. The vibe is bohemian, with all sorts of collected (Faith) and created (Noa) art. I have a passion for small spaces- they are just fun and playful, so to accentuate the element of play in the space we painted the ceiling with circus tent stripes in muted tones and turned my bedroom into a bedouin tent! A couple with an affinity for Asian and contemporary themes needed a new guest bathroom for visiting family and overnight guests. With extended visits from their parents and other family members in mind, the couple wanted a design that more that one person could comfortably share. The existing bathroom was dark, dated and fussy and did little to reflect the personality of its owners.
