The furniture was recently purchased so we really needed to get the job done in bedding, color, patterns, and infusing some key pieces/accessories to work in conjunction with the youthful furniture selection. The inspiration to her design came from a Designers Guild wallpaper that resembled the color of the sky…from there we changed the wall color to a soft gray, added new bedding and pillows, gave the window treatments a neutral texture, changed out overhead lighting and lamps and infused some current accessories. The change was exactly what was needed! But….we weren’t quite finished. We decided at that point that some extra storage was needed as well as an opportunity to bring that outdoor woodsy feeling into her room. We then changed her nightstand to more of a dresser wrapped in the gloss white and drawers in reclaimed wood. What a difference!!! But, collectively we still I felt we needed one more change to give her room that “wow” factor. I then decided to change the drama of her existing headboard to one that was spectacular!! And it worked!!! We are still in the process of changing out her desk, but for the most part we are there!!!

This Mod Nursery was designed to inspire joy and creative play in the daylight hours with plenty of soft spaces to encourage quiet coziness in the sleepy time hours. The sunny yellow walls provide a cheerful foundation for etsy artwork in crisp white frames. A bold and bright animal printed fabric was selected for the drapery and blackout lining was added to ensure room darkness when needed. The gunmetal finished open shelves (secured to the wall as a safety measure) house toys, books and baby supplies. The Oeuf crib and portable changing table were the perfect solution for this small space. A sheep skin layered over a chevron area rug adds a dimension of graphic boldness to the room. An electric blue pouf adds a great pop of color and functions as both foot stool and play prop. Making a house a home for this client who travels frequently on business. The goal was to create an inviting space for the home owner to relax and entertain friends when home in Calgary. Various strategies was employed to bring in warmth, lightness and create visual interest. A pale grey wool area rug was used to break up the large area of dark wood flooring. The dark stone fireplace surround was punctuated with white and reflective decorative accessories. A large round mirror was added to reflect the light and offer visual interest. The homeowner's once lonely grey sofa provided the perfect complement to the warm woods, textural wools and vibrant velvets.

Being in the heart of South Island ski-country, with plenty of sheep stations near by, meant that Begg was practically duty-bound to lavish her furniture with deer hides and shaggy Scandi-style sheepskins.
