This custom home is derived from Chinese symbolism. The color red symbolizes luck, happiness and joy in the Chinese culture. The number 8 is the most prosperous number in Chinese culture. A custom 8 branch tree is showcased on an island in the pool and a red wall serves as the background for this piece of art. The home was designed in a L-shape to take advantage of the lake view from all areas of the home. The open floor plan features indoor/outdoor living with a generous lanai, three balconies and sliding glass walls that transform the home into a single indoor/outdoor space. Renovation of a classic Minneapolis bungalow included this family bathroom. An adjacent closet was converted to a walk-in glass shower and small sinks allowed room for two vanities. The mirrored wall and simple palette helps make the room feel larger. Playful accents like cow head towel hooks from CB2 and custom children's step stools add interest and function to this bathroom. The hexagon floor tile was selected to be in keeping with the original 1920's era of the home. This bathroom used to be tiny and was the only bathroom on the 2nd floor. We chose to spend the budget on making a very functional family bathroom now and add a master bathroom when the children get bigger. As a recently purchased home, our clients quickly decided they needed to make some major adjustments. The home was pretty outdated and didn’t speak to the young family’s unique style, but we wanted to keep the welcoming character of this Mediterranean bungalow in tact. The classic white kitchen with a new layout is the perfect backdrop for the family. Brass accents add a touch of luster throughout and modernizes the fixtures and hardware. While the main common areas feature neutral color palettes, we quickly gave each room a burst of energy through bright accent colors and patterned textiles. The kids’ rooms are the most playful, showcasing bold wallcoverings, bright tones, and even a teepee tent reading nook. We gave this charming Bay Area home a refreshing update and small remodel. For the kitchen, the homeowners wanted to swap out their double oven for something smaller and more practical. To cater to such a change, we were able to design and build a brand new kitchen island! Not only did this open up previously used space but also provided much needed counter space and additional cabinets — plus it was a great place to add bold black accent hues! New lighting and a simple marble backsplash tied the entire space together. The living and dining areas also needed a little updating, so we added built-ins, colorful wallpaper and chairs, and a new statement light fixture to tie it all together.
