Original watercolors in purples, oranges and pinks were digitally scanned and printed to make this fabulous wall covering. The orange sideboard and purple slipper chairs were the color inspiration for the room. A round mirror over the sideboard reflects the chandelier. Hand-blown glass vases (in quantity) along with brass candlesticks are combined to make a statement. The dining room table and chairs contribute to the light and airy feel of the room and the round back on the side chairs mimic the beautiful moldings and white leather wing back chairs are perfect host chairs. The buffet lamps add extra ambient light to the room. The sheers on the French door also have a round motif and are applied with nail heads.

The feature of this room is the lighting! Before there were only two bulbs for this entire room, because the ceiling-boards were also the floorboards for the floor above, no place was left to run wires. We had to add cleats to the logs and wood T&G ceiling so space was created for wiring extra lights and thanks to LED slim pot-lights we were able to light up this room! We also did the feature wall in the same blue as the kitchen cabinets to tie the two spaces together.

This spacious home in North Vancouver's Deep Cove community had been built and decorated just over 20 years ago and was in need of updating. Our clients who are empty nesters, spend much of their time in the kitchen and family room so we focused on these spaces keeping in mind that the more formal spaces on the main floor will follow in a few years time. For the most part the layout of their kitchen worked well for them so our role was to tweak the kitchen and family room furniture layout and to select updated finishes and furnishings. Since this home transformation is not happening all at once, we purposefully selected classic finishes, like antique brass hardware, that will tie in with the rest of the home's decor until it can be updated. The resulting refresh stays true to the original feel of the house while giving it a clean, updated look.
