This custom new construction home located in Fox Trail, Illinois was designed for a sizeable family who do a lot of extended family entertaining. There was a strong need to have the ability to entertain large groups and the family cooks together. The family is of Indian descent and because of this there were a lot of functional requirements including thoughtful solutions for dry storage and spices.
The architecture of this project is more modern aesthetic, so the kitchen design followed suit. The home sits on a wooded site and has a pool and lots of glass. Taking cues from the beautiful site, O’Brien Harris Cabinetry in Chicago focused the design on bringing the outdoors in with the goal of achieving an organic feel to the room. They used solid walnut timber with a very natural stain so the grain of the wood comes through.
There is a very integrated feeling to the kitchen. The volume of the space really opens up when you get to the kitchen. There was a lot of thoughtfulness on the scaling of the cabinetry which around the perimeter is nestled into the architecture. obrienharris.com

Gorgeous, clean transitional style bathroom features quartz countertops, shaker cabinets, and a glass mosaic accent at the backsplash. The Delta Zura collection in chrome makes up this bathrooms hardware and accessory selection.

Custom Home, Interior Architecture project - view of elegant foyer with living room and stair beyond. Paneled opening into stair hall, inlaid marble flooring and cream painted trim and wainscoting. Tray ceiling with cove lighting and extensive millwork. Designed by Jane Ann Forney, project created in collaboration with ATA.

Our client’s intension was to make this bathroom suite a very specialized spa retreat. She envisioned exquisite, highly crafted components and loved the colors gold and purple. We were challenged to mix contemporary, traditional and rustic features.
Also on the wish-list were a sizeable wardrobe room and a meditative loft-like retreat. Hydronic heated flooring was installed throughout. The numerous features in this project required replacement of the home’s plumbing and electrical systems. The cedar ceiling and other places in the room replicate what is found in the rest of the home. The project encompassed 400 sq. feet.
Features found at one end of the suite are new stained glass windows – designed to match to existing, a Giallo Rio slab granite platform and a Carlton clawfoot tub. The platform is banded at the floor by a mosaic of 1″ x 1″ glass tile.
Near the tub platform area is a large walnut stained vanity with Contemporary slab door fronts and shaker drawers. This is the larger of two separate vanities. Each are enhanced with hand blown artisan pendant lighting.
A custom fireplace is centrally placed as a dominant design feature. The hammered copper that surrounds the fireplace and vent pipe were crafted by a talented local tradesman. It is topped with a Café Imperial marble.
A lavishly appointed shower is the centerpiece of the bathroom suite. The many slabs of granite used on this project were chosen for the beautiful veins of quartz, purple and gold that our client adores.
Two distinct spaces flank a small vanity; the wardrobe and the loft-like Magic Room. Both precisely fulfill their intended practical and meditative purposes. A floor to ceiling wardrobe and oversized built-in dresser keep clothing, shoes and accessories organized. The dresser is topped with the same marble used atop the fireplace and inset into the wardrobe flooring.
The Magic Room is a space for resting, reading or just gazing out on the serene setting. The reading lights are Oil Rubbed Bronze. A drawer within the step up to the loft keeps reading and writing materials neatly tucked away.
Within the highly customized space, marble, granite, copper and art glass come together in a harmonious design that is organized for maximum rejuvenation that pleases our client to not end!

This project was a semi-custom build where the client was able to make selections beyond the framing stage. The Morganshire 3-bedroom house plan has it all: convenient owner’s amenities on the main floor, a charming exterior and room for everyone to relax in comfort with a lower-level living space plus 2 guest bedrooms. A traditional plan, the Morganshire has a bright, open concept living room, dining space and kitchen. The L-shaped kitchen has a center island and lots of storage space including a walk-in pantry. The main level features a spacious master bedroom with a sizeable walk-in closet and ensuite. The laundry room is adjacent to the master suite. A half bath and office complete the convenience factors of the main floor. The lower level has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, more storage and a second living room or rec area. Both levels feature access to outdoor living spaces with an upper-level deck and a lower-level deck and/or patio.

Featuring a classic H-shaped plan and minimalist details, the Winston was designed with the modern family in mind. This home carefully balances a sleek and uniform façade with more contemporary elements. This balance is noticed best when looking at the home on axis with the front or rear doors. Simple lap siding serve as a backdrop to the careful arrangement of windows and outdoor spaces. Stepping through a pair of natural wood entry doors gives way to sweeping vistas through the living and dining rooms. Anchoring the left side of the main level, and on axis with the living room, is a large white kitchen island and tiled range surround. To the right, and behind the living rooms sleek fireplace, is a vertical corridor that grants access to the upper level bedrooms, main level master suite, and lower level spaces. Serving as backdrop to this vertical corridor is a floor to ceiling glass display room for a sizeable wine collection. Set three steps down from the living room and through an articulating glass wall, the screened porch is enclosed by a retractable screen system that allows the room to be heated during cold nights. In all rooms, preferential treatment is given to maximize exposure to the rear yard, making this a perfect lakefront home.

Another lovely, nature-inspired organic form, the Corelia is made for total neck-deep immersion even for tall bathers. The gracefully curved ends flare out to a sizeable 66.5” (163.5 cm) length at the rim, which coupled with the 15.25” (40 cm) interior depth to overflow drain provide room a-plenty for a single self-indulgent soak or delightful shared bathing experience.
The natural oval form and thin, elegant walls of the Corelia bathtub blend seamlessly with its smooth matte surface. Constructed with our groundbreaking AquateX™ material, Corelia features a velvety and warm surface, easing bathers into comfort.
This contemporary and symmetrical model presents a rimless, deep and double-ended design that is big enough for two bathers to enjoy full body soaks. Ensuring ease of use with a built-in overflow and a pre-installed pop-up waste, this freestanding tub is suitable for any bathroom project.

One of my favorites and most popular jobs ever. First, an affordable price range. Second, the attractive stonework on the sitting wall and fire place. Full color bluestone patio is gorgous and no maintenance. the layout and curves of the project are great. The lawn is immaculate, with plenty of room for kids to play and pets. Love the teal color and furnishings the client chose. It just feels easy and relaxed.
Landscape Designer Values:
Landscape Designer and Landscape Contractor, Brett Berry of Berry Outdoor Living creates living areas that feel connected to the home. As a Landscape Designer and Landscape Contractor, when we've created a project the right way, the space feels relaxed. It's like it's been in place with the home for years and not an "add-on". As a Landscape Contractor that merges old and new construction into the landscape design, it's difficult to describe, but people just want to spend time in the new area, whether at the bar of the outdoor kitchen, fire pit, patio, or covered porch. When a space becomes a large part of the homeowners' daily life, that's when I know a project has been completed with excellence.
For a space to be relaxing, it must feel easy. A quality landscape design must allow the space to feel like it flows from the adjoining room inside the home out. When accomplished correctly, the patio and outdoor living space feels like an extension of the home, or another "room" of the home and feels wrapped with fresh, low-maintenance landscaping.
