In this combination living room/ family room, form vs function is at it's best.. Formal enough to host a cocktail party, and comfortable enough to host a football game. The wrap around sectional accommodates 5-6 people and the oversized ottoman has room enough for everyone to put their feet up! The high back, stylized wing chair offers comfort and a lamp for reading. Decorative accessories are placed in the custom built bookcases freeing table top space for drinks, books, etc. Magazines and current reading are neatly placed in the rattan tray for easy access. The duo's primary consideration during the design phase was to create a fully-functioning family home. "We are always thinking about our kids", Novogratz explains. "They needed a place to run around in the city, so putting the gym in was a pretty obvious solution. It may be out of the ordinary, but it is better than having your children skateboarding through the kitchen!" The couple's oldest son, Wolfgang, is a champion basketball player. While the court provides him with a place to hone his skills, it doubles as an entertaining space. "We knew we needed to use the space efficiently so it could work for everything", says the designer. From watching movies on a retractable screen, to hosting a 40-guest Thanksgiving dinner, the gym has proved itself as a good move. It has even been a haunted house! Adrienne DeRosa Photography

Inspiration for a living room remodel in San Francisco

Maxwell, son of David, has been an avid basketball player since he was five, and spent hours playing on an old hoop in the driveway. David finally decided to get Pro Dunk Silver Basketball System that was consistent with his son's skill. Their system was installed by the concrete slab driveway. They then added Max's favorite team to the mix, and the result is attached. The dimensions of the playing area are 25' x 20. It is located in Green Oaks, Illinois. This is a Pro Dunk Silver Basketball System that was purchased in May of 2012. It was installed on a 25 ft wide by a 20 ft deep playing area in Green Oaks, IL.
