The space in between the two "wings" of the house was designed for this dining space, which overlooks the meadow beyond.

The entry of this home flows through a small atrium which opens directly onto the central garden. In many modern house plans, the atrium and courtyard are combined.

Front view on a stormy afternoon. A curved entry court leads from the paver driveway apron to the front door. Window bays at the den, kitchen, and dining are modeled after a Turkish 'cumba' (pronounced chumba). The clerestory windows and exposed beams are at the peak of the central atrium, adjacent is the rooftop terrace, with the guest casita beyond. You can glimpse the owner's zen garden near the exterior stair. This small rural parcel will be xeriscaped where not left native. Photo by V. Wooster.

The pebble shower flooring provides texture and visual interest while the bathroom counter and polished concrete floor are kept simple and elegant to balance the composition. The full height window and shower door frame the beautiful view and small atrium. The pebble floor material continues outward to establish a rhythm amid the exterior weathered wood tiles, connecting the two spaces.

Discover the beauty of our Japanese-inspired garden design, featuring a harmonious arrangement of smooth river rocks, stepping stones, and vibrant bamboo. This elegant landscape transforms your outdoor space into a peaceful sanctuary.

This was a small garden that we Feng Shui'ed and completely redesigned. The theme was a xeriscape - with drought tolerant, native species to California. Jennifer designed the Feng Shui aspects of the garden, and Briana Lyon provided the horticultural knowledge. We also designed their atrium to be an indoor/outdoor space with plants, and seating areas. Our clients (and their dog) love the finished product. Now they have strawberries, and artichokes coming straight from the garden. They also get a fair amount of hummingbirds visiting their fountain. This is an eclectic space, which colorfully pumps up the Feng Shui of the homeowners, while giving them a zen place to relax.
