In the back of this estate just outside of Omaha, Nebraska, Elite Landscaping designed a custom concrete swimming pool with a covered pool house and 360-degree, negative-edge spa.
The pool house features an outdoor kitchen and bar area, which rests on posts that adjoin the raised pool wall. The pool house was built as an exact architectural match to the house, from the stucco, to the cedar decking beams, down to the paint color. This covered outdoor entertaining area provides a shady spot in the afternoons, where guests can lounge on four in-pool, swim up bar stools. The rest of the pool remains in full sun. The sunken swim-up bar is adorned with glass tile accents, and the pool wall features natural stone. Oversized, UniLock bluestone pavers comprise the pool deck and patio.
The unique negative-edge spa sits above the pool, and was designed so one half of the spa flows into the pool while the other half flows back into the landscaping. The entire poolscape is automated by a Pentair IntelliTouch system that runs off of a smartphone or other device. With the touch of a button, the homeowners can adjust pool and spa temperatures, change water flow speed, program the FX color-changing LED lights, and even test the pool chemistry.

A West Village bachelor pad inspired by classic mid-century modern designs, mixed with some industrial, traveled, and street style influences. The space was a pre-war one bedroom that had certainly withheld the test of time, and we wanted to highlight the architectural elements that the space offered (such as the molding details, windows etc.). Our client took inspiration from both this travels as well as his city (NY!), and we really wanted to incorporate that into the design. In the foyer we turned a photo that we had taken of a nearby graffiti wall into a removable wallpaper, that we inset into the picture frame style moldings. In the entry we found large metal vintage letters that fit perfectly into the recess, to add interest to what was a long, boring hallway.

WHOLE-HOME REFRESH — HANDYMAN KATY TO PEARLAND, TX (77584)
Client: Joyce
Location: Pearland, TX 77584
Scope of Work: Hallway patch and paint, interior wall cleaning and painting with corner bead repair, master bathroom tile replacement, and smoke/CO alarm batteries
Joyce had a list that had been building for a while. We worked through all of it in one project.
The main hallway came first: 25 to 30 pinholes filled, sanded, spot-primed, then two coats of matching paint across both side walls, corner to corner.
From there we moved through the designated walls around the house, cleaning scuffs and buildup, degreasing near the bathroom switch, patching minor damage, and repairing a damaged corner bead near the living area with the texture restored to match before painting.
In the master bathroom, we pulled two mismatched cut tiles at the doorway, removed the old setting material, prepped the substrate, cut and set her matching tiles, and grouted, with the adjacent carpet and trim protected throughout.
Last item on the list: fresh batteries in eight smoke and CO alarms, covers back on, every unit tested.
Joyce, thank you for trusting our Katy handyman crew with this much of your home at once.
And thank you for the 5-star review! Wishing you’d found us five years ago is about the best thing we could read.
Got a list that keeps growing in Katy or Pearland? Text a handyman a photo and we’ll respond same day.

Our Award Nominated project,Violet street was a huge transformation from start to finish. Our goal was to take the main floor of the house from the 80’s to the 21st century by creating an open concept living area and a chef’s kitchen.
Removing the unnecessary walls created and open concept main floor with a chef's kitchen and an island that is over eleven feet long. Storage was a concern in the previously small kitchen; with that in mind we added in some full height pantry units with roll out shelves. The pantry units flank a built in desk and glass cabinets which has quickly become the landing zone for the kitchen and the perfect spot for planning their dinner menu. We elevated the look of the desk by running the back splash from the floor right up to the top as the backing inside the glass cabinets.
The living room was also given a new lease on life. All the cabinetry was done in a white washed oak to define the living space from the kitchen; this is especially important in open concept. Built in cabinetry now frames the fireplace, giving the living room a focal point.
Violet St has now been elevated to the present time and is a wonderful space to entertain and test your culinary abilities.
Now this home is ready to be filled with many happy memories and moments.
