Located in the prestigious Town of Higland Park, just outside Dallas, this luxury residence features aspects of both Country French style and classic formality. The front garden features an internal lawn with symmetrical walkways that curve around to the front porch and balustrade. In the side courtyard, a decorative fountain element accents this intimate space with wonderful tumbled bluestone paving detailing. In the rear garden, a raised formal pool anchors the space and features an antique French wall fountain element that spills into the pool. The brick perimeter walls feature lush landscaping, climbing vines and screen trees to enclose the garden and provide screening for the view from the house and upper balconies. Completed with Naud Burnett & Partners.

ORGANIC AND NATURAL DESIGN A well thought out and organized naturalistic style garden design and landscaping compliment the natural terrain of the land and enhance the general theme of the home. In this project, we use natural granite boulders for the fountain accent art and for creating a very natural but dramatic look of the circular driveway island landscaping. We curved boxwood hedge around the existing driveway and soften the garden with hydrangeas, dogwoods, and groundcovers.

The challenge for this garden was the side entrance to the house. We needed to make it clear which way to go and make the journey to the front door interesting and welcoming. This meant there had to be something happening in the garden year round. Foliage plays a big role in this garden! The pathways were designed to provide a gracious entrance and be wide enough in some spaces to allow for neighbors to gather outside the home office balcony. The backyard needed to accommodate the trampoline, food gardening, outdoor dining and entertaining. Who knew a trampoline could function as a room divider?! The raised beds are at a comfortable height and depth for easy tending and keeping pets out. The result is the whole family can share the yard yet every function has a zone of it's own. And, you always know what season it is!
