Bedroom - eclectic bedroom idea in New York

While being the new kid on the block, this home was designed to be a good neighbor to it's older surroundings. Progressive in materiality, fenestration and detailing but sympathetic in scale and form. It provides the homeowners privacy from the street but is very open to the backyard and the southern sun exposure afforded there. While the home is not certified, it subscribes to many Passive House principles which means it provides a very comfortable environment with good indoor air quality as well as reducing energy consumption. To further tread lightly on the planet, the home is all electric thereby directly excluding the use of fossil fuels. Alternative energy is provided by geothermal and solar photovoltaic systems. The homeowners are also big proponents of local bike culture and have prioritized bike use with an attached bike garage that also serves as a space for training and repairs, and a small bike trail looping the urban property.

This lower level space started off as a storage space for inherited household furniture and miscellaneous infrequently used items. Pierre Jean-Baptiste Interiors reimagined the space as it now exists using some of our clients few requirements including a stage for the family comedians at the rear of the lower level, a movie screening area, a serving table for frequent soiree’s, and cozy resilient furnishings. We infused style into this lower level changing the paint colors, adding new carpet to absorb sound and provide style. We also were sure to include color in the space strategically. Chase Builders along with Ever & Co., and Architectural Ceramic's own, designer Marianna Ouzdanova, come together to create a modern dream home. The bathrooms boast either 8x48 Seattle Light Grey Bark porcelain or 6x48 Estonia White on the floors. The decadent showers focus on texture with one sporting 32x32 Doors Blanco walls and the other with a Calacatta Chablis Marble Chevron mosaic. We just love the way this one turned out, and are cautiously optimistic it will take home a national award next month! Stay tuned! A little about the space…The homeowners challenged us to come up with a design that incorporates a grand entrance to the pool area. The dual staircases cascading down to the magnificent gunite pool certainly makes for a grand entrance. In addition, we designed and built several vignettes that keep the party going in multiple areas of their outdoor space. Transitioning from a high deck to the pool area, and flowing from both areas was a challenge, but we think it came out pretty awesome. There are so many amenities in this space: Wolf deck, Equinox louvered roof, super custom kitchen with Twin Eagles high-end appliances, sunken fire lounge, multiple tempest torches, and custom PVC skirting. In addition, there is a dry space below with a Knotwood aluminum ceiling, and custom barn doors in Knotwood for access to storage space below.
