My Clients here have excellent taste and a beautiful home. I organized many rooms in this home, but my favorite photos are of the bookcase. This built-in bookcase was organized by genre and styled like a piece of art in the room. So many folks line their books on the shelves like a library. I say, lets have fun with it and add another piece of art to the room.

The Back Bay Residence is a 6,300sf four-story row house interior renovation for a culinary artist and a rare book and art collector. The program includes a private residence and multiple rental units. The architecture of the private residence revolves around the need to display an extensive collection of Persian and Renaissance artwork, rare books and manuscripts. As a kind of library and small museum, the walls throughout the residence alternate between relatively taut and continuous surfaces for the display of artwork, to recessed and coffered millwork elements providing shelving spaces for books and art objects. A three-story bookcase tower extends from the second to fourth floor at the stairway core connecting the floors of the private residence and providing a type of viewing promenade throughout the space.

A mid-century modern kitchen typically features clean lines, sleek surfaces, and a minimalist approach to design. The color scheme is often muted, focusing on natural materials such as wood, stone, and metal. Cabinets are usually flat-panel and made of wood or laminate, with simple hardware. Countertops are often made of quartz, granite, or marble; flooring is typically hardwood or tile. Large windows are also standard in mid-century modern kitchens, allowing plenty of natural light to flood the space. Overall, the design is functional, understated, and timeless.
