Bright laundry room with a rustic touch. Distressed wood countertop with storage above. Industrial looking pipe was install overhead to hang laundry. We used the timber frame of a century old barn to build this rustic modern house. The barn was dismantled, and reassembled on site. For a well-known American fashion designer, this kitchen was the heart of a complete to -the-frame renovation. In preliminary discussions, she stated that after working with a broad spectrum of colors and textiles all day, she wished for a calm, neutral palette when she returned home. The recycled glass tile backsplash includes a favorite blue-green color. The white counter-top on the island is seamless slab of OKITE quartz.

The end of this island features clean lines and plenty of storage. Additionally, there is a prep sink and plenty of seating.

The building is comprised of three volumes, supported by a heavy timber frame, and set upon a terraced ground plane that closely follows the existing topography. Linking the volumes, the circulation path is highlighted by large cuts in the skin of the building. These cuts are infilled with a wood framed curtainwall of glass offset from the syncopated structural grid.
