There’s something timeless about a traditional living room—its ability to feel both refined and deeply livable is what makes it such a lasting favorite. In this recent project, we set out to create a space that honored classic design principles while thoughtfully adapting to the realities of modern life—especially in a home shared with two large, beloved dogs.
The foundation of the room begins with color. We selected Sherwin-Williams SW 7741 “Willow Tree” for both the walls and trim, creating a rich, enveloping tone that immediately establishes warmth and cohesion. By carrying the same hue across architectural elements, the space feels grounded and intentional, allowing texture and detail to take center stage rather than contrast alone.
To elevate the architecture, we introduced a series of custom ceiling beams that draw the eye upward and add a sense of structure and craftsmanship. These were complemented by wall and ceiling ogee molding, bringing in a layer of traditional ornamentation that feels both elegant and tailored. The subtle curves of the ogee profiles soften the room while reinforcing its classic character.
Lighting played a key role in enhancing both ambiance and functionality. We incorporated wall sconces to provide a warm, diffused glow in the evenings, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. These are balanced by crinkle metal floor lamps, which add a touch of modern texture and visual interest without straying from the overall aesthetic.
At the heart of the room sits a custom-designed sofa—arguably the most important piece in any living space. Given the homeowners’ lifestyle, durability was just as important as beauty. We upholstered the sofa in outdoor-grade Sunbrella fabric, a decision that ensures long-term performance without sacrificing style. The fabric resists wear, stains, and fading, making it an ideal solution for a home with pets while maintaining a polished, tailored look.
Layering was essential in completing the design. A generously sized 9' x 12' area rug anchors the seating arrangement, adding softness underfoot and defining the space. Decorative mirrors were strategically placed to reflect light and create depth, while faux plants introduce greenery without the maintenance—an ideal choice for busy households.
The result is a living room that feels elevated yet approachable, traditional yet practical. It’s a space designed not just to be admired, but to be lived in—where thoughtful material choices and timeless details come together to support both style and everyday life.

We collaborated with Interior Specialist, Aspen Vanhoorebeck from @acozyblessednest, in her teenage boy's bedroom redesign.
Originally Aspen’s 16-year-old son wanted all-black painted bedroom walls. Not especially thrilled on the dark color choice (she hoped the room would easily transition into a guest room when he went to college), Aspen looked for another option. When she found our smooth Timeless Nickel Gap Midnight Black shiplap, she and her son were able to reach a happy medium.
At the end of her project, Aspen shared, "We loved working with UFP-Edge to put the black nickel gap shiplap in my son's room. My favorite part is that it comes pre-cut to fit the wall. It made the project easy enough for anyone to do! Not only do I love it, but my son does too! We’ve gotten so many compliments. I can’t wait for the next project!"
Our UFP-Edge Timeless nickel gap shiplap adds incredible character to any space with its sleek lines and clean finish. The lasting appeal of smooth shiplap provides the perfect design element for a variety of design styles, including both modern farmhouse and transitional. Take your interior design to the next level by installing Timeless shiplap for added dimension and character.

This hard-working and good-looking kitchen is the hub of the home. We designed it to be enjoyable to gather in for two reasons: it is supremely functional and meets all of the client's daily needs, and it's a beautiful space to linger.

The lattice panel for screening those pesky neighbors features stone transom inserts to mimic the transoms on the home. Small bluestone tables with orchids were custom-built for the base of each stone column.

An historic Spanish Colonial residence built in 1925 being redesigned and furnished for a modern-day Southern California family was the challenge. The interiors of the main house needed the backgrounds set and then a timeless collection created for its furnishings. Lifestyle was always a consideration as well as the interiors relating to the strong architecture of the residence. Natural colors such as terra cotta, tans, blues, greens, old red and soft vintage shades were incorporated throughout. Our goal was to maintain the historic character of the residence combining design elements and materials considered classic in Southern California Spanish Colonial architecture. Natural fiber textiles, leathers and woven linens were the predominated upholstery choices. A 7000 square foot basement was added and furnished to provide a gym, Star Wars theater, game areas, spa area and a simulator for indoor golf and other sports.
Antiques were selected throughout the world, fine art from major galleries, custom reproductions fabricated in the old-world style. Collectible carpets were selected for the reclaimed hardwood flooring in all the areas. An estancia and garden over the basement were created and furnished with old world designs and materials as reclaimed woods, terra cotta and French limestone flooring.

The kitchen cabinets project embraces a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics, with a focus on creating a serene atmosphere. Rounded cabinets crafted from light pigmented oak form the backbone of the kitchen's design, infusing the space with a warm and inviting ambiance. The choice of light pigmented oak not only adds a touch of natural elegance but also complements the abundance of natural light that floods into the house, further enhancing the feeling of serenity.
A soft color scheme is carefully curated to seamlessly blend with the light oak cabinets, creating a cohesive and soothing visual palette throughout the kitchen. Soft hues such as pale blues, gentle greens, or muted creams are incorporated into the walls, backsplash, and accents, adding depth and tranquility to the space.
Central to the kitchen design is the island, intelligently sectioned into two levels. This feature not only maximizes functionality but also serves as a focal point for social gatherings and moments with loved ones. The lower level of the island provides ample space for food preparation and cooking activities, while the elevated section offers a comfortable dining area or a cozy spot for gathering, fostering a sense of togetherness and connection.
Whether it's a casual family breakfast, a lively dinner party, or simply a quiet moment shared with loved ones, the versatile design of the kitchen island ensures that it remains the heart of the home, adaptable to any occasion. With its rounded cabinets, light pigmented oak finish, and thoughtfully designed layout, this kitchen exudes a timeless charm and a tranquil atmosphere, inviting occupants to unwind and savor life's simple pleasures.
