Inspiration for a transitional exterior home remodel in Houston

Customer contacted Allwood Cabinets to remodel a small kitchen in a vintage ranch. A brick wall was removed and replaced with a beam to expand the kitchen to gain an additional 3-4 feet in the kitchen. Old plywood cabinets were replaced with solid maple cabinets. The main cabinets were natural with a chocolate glaze and the peninsula was stained espresso. The heartwood pine floors were sanded and refinished.

The dramatic and functional master bathroom features opulent materials and distinctive details. The spacious walk in shower has body sprays, a large rain head shower, hand held and a view of Long Island Sound. Glass and marble create the glamorous wall above the quartz vanity counter top. The impressive door hardware is embellished with crystals. And to top it all off...the crystal chandelier in the recessed ceiling adds even more sparkle to this luxurious space!

Fish in Paradise by Jon Allen - JAC 136 The Jon Allen Collection is an exclusive, hand-selected group of my most personal work to date. Each piece is hand-painted on aluminum. My art itself and my chosen medium, aluminum, are blissfully married. You may not think of the word organic when you hear the word metal, but this is some of my most organic art and that’s simply because metal allows my work to achieve true sentience. Aluminum’s naturally reflective nature enables each color, shape, and stroke to reach its full potential. A new aspect of the painting will reveal itself to you as it basks in the light that surrounds, evades, or envelops it in that moment. When you see the piece from different angles, you will appreciate how vibrant, dynamic, and environmentally influenced these pieces are. What you may see and feel by morning is not what you’ll see or feel by dusk and in many ways, and as such I feel these pieces capture the ever-ebbing and complex nature of human emotion and perception. Some of these pieces are truly abstract while others are modern takes on traditional landscapes, marine life, and portraits. I hope you enjoy them a fraction of how much I enjoyed creating them. The countertop is cultured marble and the color is called White Out. They have two wave bowl sinks. Basement Bath: Waypoint Cabinets. The door style is 410F and the color is called Maple Espresso. The countertop is cultured marble and the color is called White Out. They have chose wave bowl sink. Basement Kitchenette: Waypoint Cabinets. The door style is 410F and the color is called Maple Espresso. The countertops are Hanstone Blackburn Quartz. Powder Bath: Custom Amish Cabinets. The color is called painted peppercorn. The countertops are Viatera Rococo Quartz with undermount white sink.

2x4 handmade tiles work great in this small space. Glaze color Skky, a soft blue/grey with a crackle finish. Behind the we used 4x8 Florette deco tiles with a repeating pattern. The gingko leaf has a special meaning to the home owners, so we impressed them into a few of the tiles to add a personal touch

Artsy + Airy Open Concept Living - Working with an open concept space can have its advantages...spaces often appear larger, lots of natural sunlight, great for entertaining. However, often times, the caviot is that you have to commit to a concept and keep it cohesive throughout, which can present some challenges when it comes to design. Collectively, the entry, dining, living and kitchen were all open to the centered stairwell that somewhat divided the spaces. Creating a color palette that could work throughout the main floor was simple once the window treatment fabric was discovered and locked down. Golds, purples and accent of turquoise in the chairs the homeowner already owned, creating an interesting color way the moment you entered through the front door. Infusing texture with the citron sea grass-grass cloth wall covering, consistent with the fireplace/TV combo, creating one focal point in each space is key to your survival with an open floor plan.
