Like most of our projects, we can't gush about this reno—a new kitchen and mudroom, ensuite closet and pantry—without gushing about the people who live there. The best projects, we always say, are the ones in which client, contractor and design team are all present throughout, conception to completion, each bringing their particular expertise to the table and forming a cohesive, trustworthy team that is mutually invested in a smooth and successful process. They listen to each other, give the benefit of the doubt to each other, do what they say they'll do. This project exemplified that kind of team, and it shows in the results. Most obvious is the opening up of the kitchen to the dining room, decompartmentalizing somewhat a century-old bungalow that was originally quite purposefully compartmentalized. As a result, the kitchen had to become a place one wanted to see clear through from the front door. Inset cabinets and carefully selected details make the functional heart of the house equal in elegance to the more "public" gathering spaces, with their craftsman depth and detail. An old back porch was converted to interior space, creating a mudroom and a much-needed ensuite walk-in closet. A new, larger deck went on: Phase One of an extensive design for outdoor living, that we all hope will be realized over the next few years. Finally, a duplicative back stairwell was repurposed into a walk-in pantry. Modernizing often means opening spaces up for more casual living and entertaining, and/or making better use of dead space. In this re-conceptualized old house, we did all of that, creating a back-of-the-house that is now bright and cheerful and new, while carefully incorporating meaningful vintage and personal elements. The best result of all: the clients are thrilled. And everyone who went in to the project came out of it friends. Mr. Bleeker, an award winning architect of Bleeker Architectural Group, chose Braen Supply as the provider for the materials for his own home. He felt that Braen Supply was the most trustworthy and reliable source for materials as he designed his dream home. Mr. Bleeker was looking for a particular coloration of materials that Braen Supply would be providing. In order to meet the needs of the customer, a custom blend of granites were created providing him with the exact coloration that he was looking for. The remaining materials were selected to correspond with the custom blend, creating a home that anyone would dream to live in. Bleeker Architectural Group has been designing notable homes and buildings in the area since 1999.

The kitchen exudes warmth and elegance characterized by the luxurious Topos Walnut wood cabinets with their rich color and naturally smooth grain. The walnut palette, combined with the textured dark grey Kiruna cabinets and the marble-like Laurent stone—which showcases a deep brown hue with integrated gold and copper veining—creates a powerful and beautiful atmosphere. The design is a highly organized layout that focuses on the homeowner’s every day and entertaining lifestyle, emphasizing functionality, efficiency, and streamlined aesthetics. The back kitchen/butler pantry area was designed to help keep the main kitchen clean and organized. Bulk cooking will take place in the back kitchen area, which has a full suite of appliances. The pantry is accessible yet hidden from the main kitchen via a passage door concealed within the main kitchen. The downstairs bar area has a sink, dishwasher, beverage fridge and drawer microwave. Designed for easy functionality, it offers ample counter space for small appliances like a juicer, blender, or tea kettle, allowing for refreshment after using the adjacent home gym. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"Goran and his team at Leight Westchester are highly reliable, trustworthy and just fantastic! We were more than satisfied with Goran’s professional advice as well as attention to details. All of our friends who visit our house praise the look and design of our custom kitchen, powder room and basement wet bar. Goran also introduced and coordinated the Dekton and other stone fabrication companies who did an impeccable job in design, color and specifications. Goran even gave us his opinion as to the lighting designs which were of great help. All European seamless cabinet doors with no handle look just impressive.
